You know, the feelings of Archer, and what Rin is seeing here, those are what any war veterans would feel, especially the drafted ones.

Those drafted soldiers, unlike a certain draft dodger called Donald J. Trump, had no choice. Still, they had ideals, wishes, and hopes, and one of those is to protect their Country. Yet, what they were getting at the end were nothing more, nothing less than tragedies: losing many comrades and a lot of things, being unable to protect whatever they want to protect, and as for the rewards they were getting.... Their Country would still use them as some kind of propaganda even beyond their death, calling them Heroes in order to blind the mass and make the mass forget about the husbands and sons that the Country sent to their death, and make those Heroes a kind of a symbol and a target for their enemies to aim. In the end, even their very ideals betrayed them.

When they got drafted, some of them must've been feeling despair at their own future. And when they came back, if they could come back as a living person, they must've regretted everything they went through. Not one of them was saved, not the one who's looking at his/her future self, not the ones who came back and looked at his/her own past.

They protected their whole Country, fought for Her and Her people. They should've been happy, at least as happy as the number of things they've protected with their lives. And yet, reality wasn't as simple as that.

The king defended his country, but the country did not defend its king.

A hero always get betray in the end

He lived his whole life trying to become a superhero. Something that would be impossible the longer he walked along that path. No matter what he could do the only reward that laid ahead was betrayal and dissatisfaction.

"the knight calmly goes mad" no wonder that happened after everything hes gone through

Since 2004 Archer to me was a person that I can be able to relate. His examples was perfect and his perseverance is admirable. For 17 years I can only say one thing to Archer. You truly bring out a man’s emotions to tears of reality.

Imagine summon your future husband as your servant

In reality if you really think about it, a man goes through this and ends being in a bad place. This can haunt you as a reminder of your own past perseverance and failure. This to me reminds me of myself of helping people a lot and a lot of good men like this end up in a very bad place.

First time I watched I didn’t catch it and put it together I swear I’m so slow😂

To think that Fate Shirou avoid this path just for the fact of love someone more than his ideals.
But well, he end up executed at a certain point of his life. He lives a few years more than Archer did.

Also, Fate Shirou had to keep traveling even after his death. But at the very end, he finally meets his beloved one and reach peace.

This reveal was fantastic

I wish we also see Archer show his own tears since he's alone mourning about his ideals that being a Superhero will mean saving others proven horribly wrong in reality but Ufotable never even bothered to animated his moment!

Archer Emiya is the definitive tragic hero of the fate series, I can think not of a single other hero who had it worse than him

改めて思うんだけどエミヤってfate全キャラの中でもトップクラスに悲しいキャラよな。UBWでも過去の自分に思い出さされたのは自分の理想が間違っていなかったという事実だけ。確かにそれは救いなのかもだけどこれからも摩耗しながら人を救い続けるの想像したらほんま悲しい。どっかの誰かが言ってたんだけど桜と藤ねぇはエミヤを見た時、1発でその人物がエミヤシロウだと分かるらしいな

in my head cannon i like to think of the finale scene of UBW shows shirou on his way to becoming a true heroic Spirit and following the dream his father started

How can someone write a character so helpless and tragic in what was suppose to be a porn game.

I want various stories of EMIYA like what he did after UBW or what he did after Stay Night before Reaching Artoria or how he is studying in clocktower and maybe doing some missions for them ...there are so many possibilities yet we only see him in Fate Stay Night and Grand Order
...he could definitely appear in Lord El Melloi or Fate Strange Fake ...yet we never see his cameo in any other Nasuuverse story...he should be used more like he is one of the most interesting and charismatic character in whole NASUVERSE

Its soul shattering to realize all this was because of the traumas of the fuyuki fire. Blaming himself for abandoning the people that died there just to save himself. But what could he have done? A 7 year old child walking through that hell would've died a hundred times before being able to help a single life. That guilt and trauma pushed him to idolize the man thar saved him, then taking on his dream to save everyone, just to atone for a sin he placed upon himself. No one hates shirou emiya more than himself.

Man, even years after watching the anime this 2 minute clip somehow managed to make me tear up. Archer’s story’s so sad

If you see this hero yes this is your reward at the end so be a villains be selfish and most importantly be happy ignore worldly problem that includes certain war on certain county

You know, UBW would be a greater power if in every blades inside of it, there are memories of tragedies of those who held the real sword, and that should anyone touch the sword or weapon, no matter on which part of the item, they would relive the memories and feel the feelings of those original wielders. It would be a crazy mental attack in a fight.
