I had a giggle when you said “I don’t want to be a mean mom and only let my kids have 5 toys” because I was literally that kid. Of course as I child I would have liked more but never thought my parents were mean so don’t give that too much thought. When I was older mum said she wanted us to have better shoes or clothes over toys. Don’t worry, I’m not offended but it did make me laugh 😂

I raise my 3 grandsons, and the youngest loves his bed full of stuffies. We did just declutter them, and through the years, they had a lot. We were able to donate 3 huge black trash bags, and they still have a huge basket each they kept. It's hard on me to declutter being a widow, 67, with a major back disability causing limited mobility for long periods of time so I've been doing little by little to make life easier with cleaning, cooking, interruptions , well you know all the things. I also have a hard time with decision-making and keep our not.🤔🙄but you make it seem easy. Thank you for your motivation with decluttering . Small toys are so hard. They are always what drove me crazy when the kids were young. I wish I understood the mental health side of decluttering when our kids were small. I never understood that less can be more.

I don’t think it’s “mean mom” to be minimal or only let them have one bin. When they have too much they just dump all the bins out. Then they get overwhelmed when it’s time to clean and you’re stuck cleaning toys they didn’t even play with. My 4 year old has two of those bins full of toys. He has PLENTY of toys and can clean up after himself.

I get the essence of what you are saying. But maybe you would reconsider relating minimalism with meanness. The two have nothing to do with each other. Just as hoarder mothers are not always generous. These are false binaries. Especially in this context.

Hi i have a advice for you i see you clean the bedroom of yours boys you can label things with picture and name of your toys on yours bins it is more easy for them!

We used to have to pick up every night - not my moms responsibility... And then we would get out less toys because we didn't want to put them all away 😊

Do u have a full size vacuum? A stick vacuum can only do so much. A deeper clean will come from a full size vacuum.just a thought it you wanted a deeper clean
