Apple Watch Won’t Update? Here’s How to Fix It. (watchOS 8)

I got a solution After endless searching.
1. Reset network settings only
2. Change language and region on your phone to US
3. Open watch app and start the process
NB. It will take time (15+ hrs)
But it will go through

Unable to check for update, they telling me I don’t have internet connection. I do everything, but doesn’t work . Update software for iPhone , reset everything and still doesn’t work. Help me please

Apple products have turned into total garbage. I don’t even use my series 7 anymore it’s so buggy and pretty much useless. Sent my AirPods back and got money back. Totally junk.

Had a series five that was doing this shit. Tried everything and no results. Keeps telling me I’m not connected to wifi and therefore wont download the update. I am connected to wifi ffs. So fed up with apple making their trash grenade on you so you have to buy more of their trash. I smashed the POS and threw it out my damn window. GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE.

I was REALLY struggling with updating an Apple Watch Series 3 to work with my iPhone 8 using OS 16.2. I tried more or less everything that has been posted online at numerous sites. The Watch was using OS 7.?, I think.
Here's what I believe worked for me in the end.
Using an older iPhone 7 I had hanging around with IOS 14.?.?, I joined it to my 2.4 GHZ wifi network (not my 5 GHz). I was able to wipe the Series 3 and successfully pair it with the iPhone 7. I then deleted the previously downloaded Watch OS 8.7.1 file on the iPhone within Watch app (around 1.1 GB in size I believe). I can't recall where within the Watch app, but other online posts were correct as to the exact location.
Finally, I selected System Settings on the Watch, then General and then Software update. In there I found the option to Update the Watch OS to 8.7.1 Previous attempts with other methods that were posted, I couldn't do this on the Watch. I selected this, and went to bed.
The next morning, the Watch OS had been updated to the latest. On the iPhone 7 though, a message read that there was an update to the Watch OS waiting, I could choose cancel or check details, I canceled.
I unpaired the Watch from the iPhone 7, and then I was able to successfully pair it to my iPhone 8 (iOS 16.2). The Series 3 now seems to work great. I hope this information helps others resolve their update problem(s).
Was it the 2.4 GHz wifi network? Was it the older iPhone 7 with the older iOS 14? Was it that I deleted the Watch OS 8.7.1 update file from the Watch app? or was it the fact I chose to update the Watch OS directly on the watch rather than from pushing it from the iPhone? I sure hope for other users with the same update problem, that it had nothing to do with having access to an older iPhone with an older iOS. Not everyone has this luxury.

Help my apple watch was like years ago and my mom unpaired it and now when she tries to pair it says to update apple watch you have to update your iphone when my iphone is up to date help pls

Thanks for this. FWIW, it didn't work for me, but I'll add my experience to offer a bit of hope to others. I had tried tips from multiple sites and all to no avail. On about the umpteenth attempt, the update went through. I did nothing special. It just decided to work. Perhaps Apple's servers are partly to blame. In my case, I was attempting to pair my old Apple 3 watch with my old iPhone 6S. Like I said, on the umpteenth attempt, it worked. One of life's myteries!

I can’t even activate my series 3 again after I erase all data ,now I’m stuck with a useless watch that I couldn’t even activate again ..

Bro i cant pair and update my series 3 from 6.7.1 to the latest update. It keeps restarting on its own and i brought it to the apple fix it store, they cant do anything also. Do you have any solutions for this?

My phone needed to be updated before it could update the watch before it could pair to my phone. Fml.
Very simple solution to two days of my problem.

I have a series 3 preowned Apple Watch that seems to have been unused for some time so when I try install an update it gets as far as to preparing the update and then starts again. This has been going on for 3 hours now and it’s definitely charged enough and close…any advice 😭

If the backup restore isn't working it's because the new watch has an older version of software to the backup.
Setup the new watch as a new watch, update the software and then unpair it again.
Delete the backup of the "new watch" and then restore the old watch backup and your software version should now match.
