Personally, I think Ezio learns 3 big lessons throughout his games.
AC2: Revenge isn't worth it.
AC Brotherhood: Though he isn't able to put down his sword and is forced to fight this war, he doesn't have to wage it alone. There are others willing to stand by his side.
AC Revelations: He's fought this war well, but he cannot hope to end it in his lifetime. Sometimes, it's better to just let go and live a peaceful existence instead of fighting a battle you have no hope of winning.

AC origins is the worst game, when they added the rpg Elements is when that buried the series. Goofy fighting animations.

When he was talking about “telling” each assassin to not “do it” and how it doesn’t end with them; it really goes to show that the war between Assassins and Templars has went on for so long from beginning to end (Odyssey-modern times with Desmond) and how nothing has changed. This makes me wonder what would really happen if none of the assassins or templars did what they did or when they will realize that it’s been going on for too long kinda thing

Feel lik ethey should've given ezio another 10 years or so. Feel like 65 is just a spit in the face for all this dude has been through considering Altair made it to his 90's and went out on his own terms

Revelations was my first AC game, I was young and did not understand the story completely but i started at his end, going back and living Ezio's life. I have played every game in this franchise, enjoying all in some way, but the Ezio trilogy will always stand as the greatest set of stories told in this franchise.

I feel like the art of creating a video game specific viewpoint character isn’t discussed enough. There are lots of brilliant video game characters but it’s rare to find the viewpoint character as a standout. Ezio, Geralt, Kratos, Peter Parker, Arthur Morgan are a couple of great stand outs but so often we find our protagonist miss the mark or serve as a blank canvas for the player. I’m often immersed in the world but kinda forget about my character. I feel like it’s a difficult balance to find between the player and the character of how much control is given to either one

Literally the music was what got me into the series. The music at AC2’s title when watching my brother play the game was the moment I fell in love with the series. There’s something about the soundtracks that just grabs me by the heart at an emotional and maybe spiritual level.
This video is wonderful to watch. It helped me understand why people loved Ezio when I struggled to connect with him as much as I wanted to for years.

I find it interesting that your interpretation of the library scene was "run away, it's not worth it." My interpretation has always been that ezio, after building the brotherhood back up and decades of reflecting on who desmond might be, decided that he could finally laid down his weapons because both in his time and centuries later, there was someone to take up his fight. I've always thought it was a moment of passing the torch and accepting his reward and rest, with embers echoing and expanding on these themes

I dont usually comment on videos, but man oh man, this video brought back so many memories. This video should have a lot more recognition, an excellently constructed character analysis! Now I’m gonna go back and play these games again and probably ball a river of tears once I finish, what a character, perfect for me. I do wish we got a bit more of Cristina and Ezio but I understand that he was never meant to end up with her, that’s the whole tragedy of it all, but still would’ve loved to see more. But whatever that maybe, Ezio is and it seems always will be my favourite video game character, not just for the man he was, but the man he grew to be, I didn’t care about the destination, it was the journey that made it worthwhile. I know video game movie adaptations are usually crap, but looking at something like THE LAST OF US series, I’d love to see them make an Ezio inspired movie trilogy, I feel his story has all the right parts to succeed in films as well - action, romance, comedy and most importantly an in depth, well constructed main character who is constantly fighting his demons. Again, thank you for making this video, by the end I was in tears 😭

I think we already have a fundamental misunderstanding of historical life expectancy. It's an average, and infant/childhood fatality was a huge part of this average. If you survived to adulthood you would most likely still live to be in your 60s or 70s. You'd still get old and gray haired. There wasn't some mystical force killing people at thirty. As a small example, let's use two people. One lives to be 59, the other dies at 1. In order to get an average life expectancy, you add the individual data, then divide by the number of individuals. So 59 + 1 = 60. 60/2 = 30.

Does this make sense now? Large amounts of people weren't just dying at thirty. There were a bunch of people dying when they were legitimately old, even by today's standards, and another bunch of people dying as infants, toddlers, or young children. Old people and children died more often, just like today, for the same reason as today.... They don't have good immune systems.

There would have been no reasonable expectation for Giovanni Auditore to drop dead, as of the time of this game..

Edit: Ezio is not "older than his father could have ever been" in Revelations. As I pointed out, this isn't how average life expectancy works. You have no idea if Giovanni could have lived as long as Ezio. In fact, our knowledge of genetics would suggest that it's likely he would have, because Ezio inherited his health potential, and immune system from someone.

The Ezio trilogy truly is the heart and soul of the Assassin's Creed franchise. Every story and series have an identity, and a lot of times it happens to be the main character inhabiting the world we are reading or watching. Ezio was exactly that and it's no wonder that the series hasn't been the same since (although Black Flag was amazing).

Something I love about ac covers is that they show the progression of the series and it’s shift. From ac1 to acR the protagonists are front and center with the Animus white room standing as a backdrop, while in ac3 to Syndicate have the protagonists in the center with its historic time period visible in the background, while Origins to Valhalla have the protagonist shrunk down in favor of a huge open world. It shows that AC1-ACR focus’s the most on the characters and story, AC3-Syndicate focus on the time period as well as the story, and Origins-Valhalla focus almost entirely on the time period with the characters as trivial components despite the fact that Ubisoft has always been great at short, action adventure, narrative driven games.

It's because his story is THE heroes journey.
It's THE best rise and gradual aging story I've ever witnessed.
And it couldn't have been made better in a movie franchise or in books.
Without these games i would have never loved gaming the way I do.
If it wasn't for Ezio I would have never believed in myself.
