Why Buy A Console Anymore?

I have an uber expensive gaming PC. Built 1.5 years ago. Rebuilt, graphics, ram, cpu 6 months ago. I love my consoles though.

Honestly I’m thinking the best value in gaming right now is a Series S with Game Pass, Nintendo Switch 1/2 for it’s portable aspect & exclusive Nintendo games

Switched from consoles, to PC and now im pretty much back to consoles. My hardware cant keep up, and im tired of trying to do troubleshooting just to get a game to work, or work smoother than a dumpster fire... Meanwhile the industry is pushing raytracing and upscaling/framegen my computer pretty much has the best GPU the Cpu can handle and i still dont meet spec requirements for starfield ot indian jones, only thing left to upgrade would be the whole entire pc at this point i hate it

the only console like thing worth buying is either a Steam Deck or the SteamOS based boxes sure to come

This just might be my last home console generation. with the exception of maybe nintendo handhelds, maybe, unless everybody knocks it out of the park, next generation I'm jumping ship to PC.

Their main appeal is their low upfront cost.

I feel like games peaked back in the PS2 era, and consoles peaked with the PS3. Yes I was a PlayStation person. The PS3 just had the holy Grail of gaming; full backwards compatibility, free internet for ALL games, blue ray player, and decent memory size (for the time). I never did move on to the PS4. Instead I spent $1300 on a laptop and have been gaming on that for 10 ish years now. And before you criticize me for a laptop, I don't play shooters or competitive games. I don't need all your high specs of homebrew PC gaming.

The PS Pro looks like good value for money next to the PC when you look at the costs of graphics cards on their own

I’m still able to own my games when I play on console I doubt PC Will ever allow you to own your games unless you go back to the games that are on didc

To answer your question I buy the next console only to own the game I never want to have the rights or the license to play it when I own the game nothing can happen to it

Nintendo is fun for the whole family because of the games. My sons friends have playstations and xbox, but when they get together after school or the weekends its always nintendo.

The only reason to buy a console over a PC is price. They are still cheaper than a PC with similar specs.

OK at this point besides comfort and ease of use and plug-in plus not having to worry about if your game runs considering every game on the system is optimized to run and being cheap besides no free online multiplayer, but that’s only for games are not free to play which the most popular games are life service free to play games that don’t need online subscriptions on all platform besides Nintendo and also cheap plus physical media

question for some who keep saying these consoles are worthless. Just abandon them just move to PC simply because they have no exclusive, but I’ll be the same people saying exclusive anti-consumer and PlayStation should let their games be available on PC and day one releases on PC

The only reason to have a console nowadays is to have a quick and convenient way to play local multiplayer with friends and family. Just happens to be able to stream your shows and movies too. However most are still stuck in the mindset that PC isn't worth it and consoles will catch up. Ya they will, but by the time they do, they are way behind again already. Most people could easily put together their own rig if they just watched and paid attention to a few walkthroughs.

You get a ryzen with a 780m and you can play most games at some sorta settings. Not quite as powerful as an Xbox or ps5, but good enough you don’t need one or a gaming pc to have access

How much is a legit gaming PC going to cost you though? More than $700. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There is one console that is worth buying, the Nintendo switch, and the exclusives it has. The other 2 significantly lack by comparison even combined

My cat pissing on my PS4 was a blessing in disguise. Got me to finally switch to PC.

Pc gaming is cheaper. I buy games for 5 10 or 15 dollars on sale all the time. I save over a thousand dollars a year on games easy.

I own a pc and a Nintendo switch. Every time I go and play some Zelda, I’m shocked to see how poorly the graphics are on Nintendo‘s system. Heck, it even looks worse than what my almost 20 year old xbox 360 could push out. But Nintendo is damn good at their exclusives. And that’s why I have to deal with the crappy performance. I’ve tried out a 3rd party game yesterday and I don’t know how to describe it: the picture looks grainy, muddy, a bit blurry and very low res (I guess 480p?).

The last console I bought was a PS3 slim when my fat one died...I've been pretty much scared off anything new for over a decade. The 2 young guys I recently started working with are gamers so only in the last year I've even considered something new. I kinda want to see what Nintendo will have to offer next year, no interest in a PS5 and I've never owned an Xbox.

Ps5 digital is at sales for a few weeks , it hovers around 300 euros without taxes. You can play from your sofa on your 4ķ large tv premium games for at least 4 years zero problems .if you bought ps5 digitak at 400 in 2020 it would be 8 years

I switched to pc in 2012… consoles officially started ripping normal people off after the Xbox360 generation. why would I buy something that I can’t control if it can keep up with the titles they make. they don’t even have the leverage of disks anymore. Wow haptic feedback controller who gives a fuck there will be one for pc a month after. Title exclusives don’t mean shit anymore. they straight up resell people vintage games that are bound to the store server that they will ditch with the next console. I swear modern times are people handing their ass left and right. not to mention mooers law fell on its face in 2018 and should have instantly been the reason people stopped buying consoles. the hardware can only scale up in two ways now and they are crap solutions. One is ai interpreting how to upscale, the other is to just make consoles bigger because we can’t make transistors any smaller.

And they shouldnt have to understand it to not get fucked over.. yes a GPU upgrade costs 500 on average but it will be able to run more titles in the future, it can be resold for good money, it costs the same as a console upgrade anyways..

Can you play PC games on your big screen tv on the couch tho? I feel like that’s part of the appeal of consoles.

I didn't bother getting a PS5 or Xbox X. I can't justify the cost for they offer. In the meantime I am satisfied using PC and Switch.

My last console was an Atari2600. The Commodore 64 was paired with a 5.25" disk drive which interested me until I got my first PC. The ONLY thing I'd prefer today is the possibility of the STEAM OS. I need a browser and gaming platform - not a system that serves Microsoft and is 'kind enough to let me use it'.

You can buy the hugh end HP 15L and play more games and do way more stuff mods, more games, cheaper price and online free. For $700 so a ps5 pro or a ACTUALLY GAMING PC with ability to upgrade GPU and RAM and Memory

$70 a game my @ss. I'm hitting the $10 or less bin at Game Stop. I'll just use my Xbox One until it dies, and when it does I'll just get a Sega Genesis Mini for less than $100.

AMD drivers are more stable and compatible on games then NVIDIA

Only reason why I still do is pcs (at least for a very good one) is wayy too expensive and I'm not a huge keyboard and mouse kind of guy anyway.

I have boot console and PC. On console games are focus more on single player games, my personal favorite. And to play some games on pc you usual need to spend more on graphic card alone tan in a consle. I have boot sistems.

I will never buy a console again. It’s a, the things you can do & the freedom that exists with the pc format, which is something that has only been further amplified with the existence of portable pcs, but it’s also b, the experience of cloud streaming games is constantly improving, & now it’s to the point where you can cloud stream “console games” on practically any device under the sun. laptops tablets chromebooks smartphones smart tvs etc. you can stream on iso, android, windows, chromeOS. You can attach an isometric controller to all kinds of thin lightweight devices with large battery capacities & premium displays. 120 hertz displays/ OLED displays/2k+ resolution displays. Cloud streaming is so energy efficient that the battery will last on whatever battery powered device you use seemingly forever. You can stream on anything from a iPad mini to a 15 inch galaxy tab ultra. It requires no physical media no hard drive no update files. etc. console gaming is toast.

They, like TV show programming, want you glued to the tube. If you go to the bathroom or something and take too long, it’s a wrap for the game stream. 😢

My question is why buy a pc? These consoles have everything a gamer needs. The game mechanics and graphics are top notch. They are simple to set up and maintain. You have everything you need in the box. It’s a no brainer.

If you buy an used PS5 or an Xbox Series X for $350. It's a great deal. I bought my Series X at that price.

Before, having a console was a luxury, a large piece of technology for video games, now it is almost like having a multimedia player, add to that the price of games today.

Consoles are great for little children aged between 3 and 10years old. Nintendo knows this

No good ip exclusives

They're over 3,000 games. You can play on the PS5 but they're literally only 20 ps5 games You can only play on PS5. All the other games you can play on the platforms. Basically just ports

I would argue there's no point to PC either. Seeing that I can play high end games on my fire TV for cheap

honestly 700$ for 2TB is horrendous work mane, could just made it 4TB or something.
