Can anyone tell me who is running the bar at playa del muerto? Is it still Jonathan and his family?

I’ve been going to Sitges since 1991 and seen it change over the years. Back then there was a nightly ‘pub crawl’ around the various music bars with most people ending up at the Mediterraneo, which had a dance area. It closed at 3am after which you could then go to Trailer Disco until 5am. It also held weekly foam party’s. Both venues have been closed for a number of years. Nowadays people tend to sit or stand drinking in the same spot. As well as the gay events, there are two fiestas celebrating the two patron saints of the local church, St Bartholomew and St Thecla. The Fiesta Major celebrates St Bartholomew with parades and festivities including a massive fireworks display on 23rd August, using the church as the focal point. It really is amazing. The fiesta for St Thecla has a smaller display on 22nd September. I think the International Bears Week in September is now the busiest of the season (there is a smaller bears event at the end of April). I have to say though that recently I’ve heard people complain about the prices in Sitges for hotels, drinks etc. The gay area in Torremolinos has had some investment in the past few years and there are better beaches. I’ve recently seen social media chat where people have said it will become more popular than Sitges.

For solo travelers, I would not recommend a 2 or 3 star hotel (except for 3 the star Parrots and Subur)). They do not allow visitors, not even during the day. Been going to Sitges solo for 10 years now, if you want to bring a newly acquired "friend" to your hotel room, better stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel (Calipolis top of the list). Better yet, rent through the gay version of Airbnb, Misterb&b

We go every year first two weeks in September, I have been going since I was 19 I’m 65 now

We visited Barcelona a few years ago, but unfortunately we didn't have time to make it to Sitges! It looks like we should plan a trip there soon. Those beaches look amazing :)
