Getting Started in Space Engineers

For everyone who is playing on a non-Steam version of the game, the "Star System" start is broken into 3 parts, you'll be looking for the "Home System" instead. This will allow you to begin as I've done here as that one contains the Earth-like planet. Apologies for any confusion :)

Splitsie you do an absolutely fantastic job at tutorials for us noobs. I’m genuinely curious if you aren’t too stretched would you be interested in doing a progression tutorial series? Showing us how you’d start a new world, and progress your base with each unlock?

You didn't cover how to respawn if you don't like the drop location. I don't think F5 works anymore?

I like starting on marz you can clearly see the deposit areas

Love the videos. Not a new player, but I have been away a while and watched your stuff to relearn. Small point of order. You 100% could have moved the 4 side wind blades up 1 block if you wanted to. Adding the blocks to put them on so they could fit at the same level, created the 3x3 clearance you needed for the top one. I do it the same way you do, but others might want the option.

Just that lighting tip , probably prevented me rage quitting, i hate random setback mechanics especially if they are harsh

Bought the game yesterday on PS5, this morning I was playing the learning to survival tutorial world since I didn’t have a ton of time. After a bit of time, I was getting the hang of it. Got in the ship and went to check out the other nearby asterioids. Couldn’t figure out what to do with the first one (probably could have made it into the hanger but didn’t) and then decided to check out the other asteroid. And then was quickly reminded of the existence of inertia as I tried to stop far too late and smashed the ship into the asteroid… good thing there’s a utility ship in that asteroid

For Turbines to work locking on to voxel includes landing gears as well. So you can have turbines on your large grid ships and as soon as you lock your landing gears it will start producing energy as long as there is atmosphere on the planet

Why is my turbine not making much power? I have done everything you did. Also my assembler isn’t connecting to my basic refinery

i really wish i could play more. but steamdeck limitations here (i am attempting some workarounds but no progress yet)

Enjoy watching your starter videos. I've played on and off for several years. Planets are great until you realize there's no water in the game, only ice lakes. An occasional ice lake would be nice but when all lakes are ice lakes it becomes apparent the game was never finished.

Man i remember you did basically the exact same video yearrrs ago, back when the survival update first came out i think and way before then even i think

At this moment in time I don't own the game, however, it looks interesting, and your explanations of how systems work, and how they need to be connected is clear and concise. I've subbed up, and I look forward to binge watching your tutorial series for this game, maybe it will suck me in. :)

I really like these type of tutorial vids.

I personally like the Europa start. Sure resources are scarce (gotta love the random satellites), but the ice provides plenty of O2/H2 and the low gravity makes for better energy conservation on ships. Also, the player jetpack lasts quite a while in low gravity and it has enough atmosphere to power those thrusters.

Thank you for this guide! Mega clear and helpful. I literally played a long with you to help me get into space engineers. I’ve had the game for years but got easily overwhelmed. Hopefully my space engineers career is finally up and running!

This video is good but for noobies or people that can't find ice or colbalt or whatever the way he explains then just create a bunch of fuel bottles and fly around on your jet pack looking for the little rock sticking out the ground, they will be one of the resources you need, for ice just look for lakes or snow.

You can cover a lot of ground that way.

And my tip is for earth not sure about Mars or moon or whatever.

if you cant rotate the items guys even if you have the buttons , you will have to go into settings and press the buttons manually to set them. for me it would not work unless i press the buttons again in setting the keybinds. for some reason mine are called num 1 , num 3 for left and right and not the same names as in the video . hope this helps
