I can't believe I missed this video earlier. Nice intro to Japan - excellent work. We've been a number of times and it is our deadset favourite country to visit. It's funny you mention that Hakuba is chockers full of Australians. One time we went (we're Aussies btw) and we told some Japanese we were going to Hokkaido and they said, "lots of Australians in Hokkaido... more than Japanese." Yep the ski resorts are full of Aussies in the winter (when there isn't a world wide pandemic anyway). You were lucky with the crowds in Kyoto. The last time we were there, Spring 2019, it was beyond crowded. I think half my Kyoto videos is me whinging about the crowds of tourists (says the tourist, ha 😂). I wouldn't miss it if you're a first timer though. Same with the snow monkey. We've actually been there 3 times. It is amazing when it is snowing and the baths are full of monkeys. But the last time not a single monkey got in the bath until finally the keeper pulled the literal plug of the bath.

I know it's three years after the fact but I just wanted to say I'm always impressed with how the Japanese manage to retain their cultural identity amid this era of rapid globalization

In the town of Launceston Tasmania Australia, the city park has real snow monkeys for free to see for the public. I always found this weird cause it does not snow here and it gets quite hot.

I have been to Japan in 2015. It's a real amazing country. Most of the things & deeds are just different from anywhere else in the world. I love that country and the people.

An onsen that let's people with tattoos in is a rare find.
