ya know I like rat rods but not when they are scrapping the ground cause growing up in Michigan low ground clearance was a death sentence to any car that came down my pot hole ridden street even a couple of normal cars had their tires ripped off by 1 pot hole that got to be almost 2ft across and a foot deep. so every time I see a slammed car all I can think of it that thing is going to be detroyed if there's a speed bump or they turn down a P.O.S. road.

I always LOVED rat rods because anyone can do it, and I didn't know about the $3,000 build limit. That is a great idea and keeps it honest and out of hot rod territory altogether.

These cars shouldn't have a top speed. I've had two built cars and I was too scared in both to ever find out. Not saying they were the fastest things ever, I am saying that somewhere in the neighborhood of 140 a 72' Super Beetle stops liking you being alive after a coworker puts a rotary in it. It had a grind bar b/c it jumped a wheelie if you dumped it even up into 4th. Same went for a chevette with a 7 something liter. Thank my stars I bent the frame on it and that bad idea got pulled-out and dropped into an S-10 instead.
I only buy w rated tires now. Even for a stock sedan. Harmonics for rain and decent roads like e-ways.
