Result(s): At presentation, 27 (0.6%) of 4,400 men on finasteride. The mean duration of treatment with finasteride was 57.4 months, and mean dose was 1.04 mg/day. There was an average 11.6-fold increase in sperm counts after finasteride discontinuation. Of the men with severe oligospermia (<5 M/mL), 57% had counts increase to >15 M/mL after finasteride cessation. No man had a decrease in sperm count. There was no change in hormone parameters, sperm motility, or sperm morphology.

Conclusion(s): Finasteride, even at low doses, may cause reduced sperm counts in some men. In this population, counts improved dramatically for the majority of men after finasteride discontinuation. The hormone parameters, sperm motility, and sperm morphology were unchanged after cessation. Finasteride should be discontinued in subfertile men with oligospermia, and used with caution in men who desire fertility.

I had a hair transplant back in 2005. The procedure went well and the hair growth wss good. After about 5 years i noticed dry skin with a group of hairs clumped together.. it wss very odd. I didnt lose much but it definitely affected thd density. I dont know if that' was my native hair or yhe transplanted hair. I really have never recieved any explanation for this.. I started on oral finistride in 2018 and used it until 2023 and noticed ths hair thicknesses inproved and less shedding. I stopped oral finistride and started topical minoxidil and finistride. Its been about 5 months but i havent seen the sams results as oral finistride and I'm not sure i will. Any thoughts on why the dry skin and hair fall after the hair transplants?? I still have maintained much of my hair but the density is poor.

Is there anything that can regrow hair....in the front area....The hairline. Also....for those hairs that have stopped growing...Is there anything that can restart them growing.. Finasteride has stopped all falling hair..but...I'm concerned about the other two issues.. Now, I have seen videos in which they claim...Minoxidil did nothing for them.. at all. If you will, give me an answer here...or do a video on it.. Thanks!

Hi doctors, thank you for all the valuable information. I have a question: In regards to Finasteride frequency: in your previous video you said taking Finasteride daily "makes no sense" due to its long half-life. But you also say that when customizing the dosage "you may need to be more aggressive in the therapy." My question is: do you ever come across a patient that actually requires 1mg Finasteride/day, or 7mg a week? What is an example of "being aggressive with therapy" when it comes to Finasteride?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information about this tbh

Guys, I have 6 bottles of Minoxidil on my table and too scared to use it. I have heard that once you start Minoxidil your hair can become dependent on it to such an extent that once or if you stop taking minoxidil you will be MORE bald than you were to begin with. In other words, that prexisting hairs that werent yet balding at onset of Minoxidil treatment, will be pushed into otherwise avoidable (when paired with other treatments) balding stages once you stop taking Minoxidil. Can you confirm or adress this topic?

Has anybody used the herbal tablet called saw palmetto to help reduce DHT. As of today I am going to eat 1 full Avacodo to help. I’ve been to see an hair specialist today and I don’t need surgery all I need is laser treatment with a course of DHT blocker formula HALO what ever that is and this finasteride that’s mentioned in this video but I thought I have 1 month to decide so wanted to try to remove some of all of my DHT naturally with Avacodo fruit and saw palmetto herbal tablets

Hi Dr, I’ve been following you lately about this interesting topic. I totally now understand the difference between hair loss and shedding. However, I just wonder is there a thing called seasonal shedding, For example end of summer and fall? I know this is not Telogen effluvium, and could only relates to season or perhaps the hair enters the Telogen cycle in this specific time of the year. I would love if you can shed more lights on that topic. Thank you.

I have a question, I use minoxidil 2% once a night and for the last 19 days and it makes me really lightheaded the night of and following day (but my shedding has slowed down already) could I still get some benefits if I used it every other day? to help remove the light headedness? I know the half life is 23 hours, so could every other day still bring benefits and be better than not using it at all?

Please write the name of the hairloss androgen-receptor-specific drug under development. It was not clear from the discussion. I was aware that DHT is more selective for hairloss than T, but I wasn't aware that there are DHTs that are more selective for hairloss than other DHTs. Is that the point?

Dutasteride has been also shown to reduce scarring of hairfollicles and scalp which is very interesting

Please, please, please, talk more about mesotherapy. I think my doctor here in South America has never done a treatment based only in the use of mesotherapy, without any oral alpha reductase blocker. She said I will be doing mesotherapy each six months, but you guys said 2 months and maybe it is because two months is the ideal frame when mesotherapy is the only technique being used as a treatment. Please, talk about this. I may suggest my doctor that I will be doing it each two months. She will agree.
