This reminds me of the trauma I experienced after backing something that took 3 years to receive AND, though we were promised these items were exclusive and would never otherwise be sold, she sold the project to a mass market company. Sigh.
Actually, that's happened twice lol.
But, this drama... it makes me feel hatred for Lisa Frank and really kind of bad for Glamor Dolls.
i don't trust kickstarters because of idubbbz's 'kickstarter crap' from back in the day

ОтветитьHonestly atp im far from surprised with her actions here
ОтветитьLady sounds like a beech, why would ya want dat cuunts bs
ОтветитьLisa Frank probably couldn't use existing work due to it being already used for another company
ОтветитьI actually loved the Lisa frank bronzer from the ipsy bag
Ответитьsheesh your videos are too good! I clicked on this to have on in the background while I work since it's long, but I keep having to pause and rewind so I don't miss any tea! Guess I'll have to save it to enjoy on the couch with some popcorn instead 🍿👀
ОтветитьWell I’m glad the shady person got shaded on. The get rich-er scheme by shading on others was NOT fair or honest, and I will never by Lisa Frank stuff.

ОтветитьI wonder if the backers could start a class action lawsuit against LFI and Glamour Dolls. It's really messed up how much money y'all lost to this!

ОтветитьThanks for the information ❤️🇺🇸
Ответить🦄That was a wild ride🌈

Ответитьdid anyone else notice that the glamour dolls tiger palette looks very very similar to the tiger
morphe palette???
So glad I found your channel. Very interesting and informative. Love your content and I look forward to catching up on more of your videos, so I better get watching 😊
ОтветитьWhat im getting from this is that we need to think of Lisa Frank the same way we do JK Rowling. Nostalgia is nice, but when you're supporting horrible people it isn't worth it
Ответитьi had to literally google what a trapper keeper was lol we dont say that on the east coast of canada
ОтветитьLearning about this whole thing reminded me that I was also an Ipsy subscriber at the time, and I actually received two Lisa Frank x Glamour Dolls items: an eyeshadow and a bronzer. I had NO idea it was a kickstarter thing and I think my reaction at the time was “oh yeah, Lisa Frank.” I think the products themselves were decent but with this as the context it’s absolutely WILD that they sent stuff through Ipsy before sending anything to their backers. Like??? I was never a Lisa Frank girlie and the only money I was spending was going to ipsy, why was I getting this stuff?

ОтветитьI’ve only started seeing QR codes on items like the last 5 years. And Peter says he doesn’t see them anymore so must be early 2000s.
ОтветитьYears later I'm still waiting on my refund
ОтветитьLisa really took them for everything they had. They didn't have enough money to put anything into production because she took it all in licensing and art fees.
ОтветитьI was one of the people who emailed about the entire thing being the definition of theft by deception and they refunded me within hours. They knew they had a lawsuit on their hands if they didn't refund anyone who asked for it. A lot actually did get a refund for this reason. BUT if you really want to see a terribly run crowdfunding, check out the Nightmare City remake crowd funding campaign. That one was even worse. Backers didn't even get updates. Actor/Makeup artist Tom Savini was allegedly involved, but when I asked him personally about it, he didn't even know anything about it. The Lisa Frank thing is mild compared to The Nightmare City campaign.

ОтветитьJess from Glamour dolls was a reality tv star, I Loved her and Lisa Frank and was a backer and preordered a bunch of makeup because I was so excited. I am still so mad, I received nothing, and Jess is still pretty popular on social media and has a successful podcast and we all were scammed out of our money!

ОтветитьThese cases can take years sometimes, but I hope people who still want these products will get them somehow. Maybe, one day when Jen is 70 she'll get a surprise package in the mail and it'll be her coveted Lisa Frank trapper keeper eyeshadow palette.
ОтветитьI'm a little over 15 minutes into this video and so far this sounds like a great start to a fraud lawsuit if they don't refund the money since it sounds like they didn't give the products they PROMISED to the backers.
ОтветитьI don’t even wear make up really and I would have ordered the eye shadows!!
ОтветитьThis is wild lol I got the Lisa frank morphe collection with the trapper keeper eyeshadow palette and the quality was abysmal
ОтветитьNew to your channel, love it!!!!
Ответить🦄🌈
And no I don’t think ur going to get ur products ♥️♥️♥️🫣🫣 sorry 😅
Last time I checked in on this it was because I was really mad about all the people getting things before the backers and I just cut my losses and assumed it wasn’t happening. This was quite the update lol. I’ll update my address on backer kit just in case I guess.

ОтветитьJust a friendly lil reminder that the G word is a slur for the Romani people
ОтветитьI bought into this too, quite a bit (I don’t want to look back to see how much 🥲 but I upgraded through BackerKit too) and never got a singleeeee thing. Back then I was a student but I actually have been working in licensing for five years (for a licensor) so this is all incredibly interesting to me. We look after some incredibly high profile brands and so I know that those royalty advances and approvals processes are absolutely insane - Glamour Dolls didn’t behave well but LFI absolutely took huge and wrong advantage of their naivety in the licensing industry and it is really despicable and very bad business
ОтветитьIn hindsight for all you contractors out there "NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH LISA FRANK!!!!" Thank you Jen for this very enlighening investigation in to this subject.
ОтветитьI know from my gaming fandom about Kickstarters and how huge of a mess they can be. This is on level with the Mighty No. 9 debacle. Some of the same issues too: original money made was far more than they expected so they started adding stuff, overpromising, delayed for years, poor communication. There have been some great Kickstarters too that turned out even better than originally promised but these horror stories are why I never back, I just wait for the products to hit retail. Hard to feel bad for GD at all when it seems they had the money to fulfill their original obligations but then got too greedy thinking Lisa would just go along with it but it turned out she was even more greedy than they imagined lol🦄
ОтветитьGreed. Not cute.
ОтветитьI was extremely young when Lisa Frank was on its way out of popularity. I honestly thought that Lisa Frank was a fever dream. My mom was obsessed with Lisa Frank products and she got me everything that she could find. The problem is that I always get overwhelmed by the art, and seeing it again has sent my brain into shock. Thank you for bringing back a memory I desperately tried to suppress. That's not sarcasm. I'm actually happy to have someone who had a more positive experience with the school supplies talk about it. It's also fascinating to hear about the makeup line that I never knew existed.
ОтветитьThat was insane. Kind of bummed me out… Definitely tainted some nostalgia for me. But completely fascinating. 🌈🦄
ОтветитьI was born in 81…I remember seeing some things Lisa Frank. Maybe I had a folder or something. But my obsession was more with My Little Pony. Not sure why but I don’t really remember people being obsessed with her stuff and had no idea this controversy happened. Interesting to hear about non the less.
