Is alum cave trail safe for children around 5 year old and how long is this trail?

Cades Cove was worse than NYC traffic at rush hour. You could almost walk faster than traffic there.

I made a few of these stops this past Feburary. Looks like I need to go back and see more! I believe Clingsman's Dome was closed at that time. The hike to Laurel Falls was a good elevation climb, too. We got there fairly early, and by the time we hiked back down, all the parking spaces were taken.

Great video and great tips! My family and I plan to come down to Gatlinburg this July 1-5 for the first time. I know the area will be super busy during that time, but what are some of the must-do's in your opinion at the park and also in the town (and what should we avoid)? Also, are guided tours even necessary or a waste of money? Thanks in advance!

My wife and I want to see some scenery east of the Mississippi worth traveling for. With all our experience being west of the Mississippi, I can't tell you how disappointing it is to see what everyone gets excited about in the "GREAT" Smokey Mountains! NOTHING people are raving about holds a candle to "common" destinations in the west! The water falls highlighted, our common stream falls in the Rocky mountains. The "Mountain" views are little more than large hills, found damn near ANYWHERE! Bears? What kind of fool has any interest in running into ANY wild bear, completely exposed? IDK, maybe the bears in the east have been so f'd up by libturds, they don't see themselves as bears and identify as ducks, thus rendering them harmless? I mean no personal offense to anyone that finds beauty in any natural environment. However, We hold out hope that we will find SOME destination(s) worth traveling from the Midwest for!

I grew up in Gatlinburg and went to high school there during the late 1960’s. Such a wonderland of natural beauty. Me and several buddies hiked to Mt. LeConte during the fall on numerous occasions. We would work at the lodge on Saturday and Sunday, washing dishes, making up rooms, etc. for our lodging and meals. Just to be in the natural beauty made it worth the strenuous hike. I’ll never forget the sunrise over the cliff tops. I also took folks on horseback up to the lodge as a mountain guide during high school. One day we got a late start for a round trip and it was pitch dark about halfway back to the barn. I simply gave my horse his head and he got us home. I’m very familiar with all these spots mentioned and recommend you go visit if you can. Much different nowadays with tones of commercial development in Gatlinburg which for me ruins it but I understand, it’s the tourist business.

This is what our great mother should look like, unlike the cities of today. Humans destroy everything......

Planning my honeymoon for the 25th of February through march 4th. I’ll be in eastern TN for 3-4 days! Coming down from Wisconsin with my soon-to-be wife who’s never left Wisconsin or upper Michigan before! Gonna be a blast. Thanks for the great video highlighting stuff to see.

Yes much of our country use to look like the smoky s until they paved paradise and put in walmarts
