Not surprising that it wasn't adopted into service. When you think of all the extra effort to implement this weapons system you pretty quickly come to the obvious conclusion that it would make far more sense to just install more forward firing guns, greatly increase the total ammo capacity, and stick to conventional ground attacking tactics.

Eons ago I read a book on the Thompson sub machine gun. I saw a photo of a bank of them in a plane just like these were.

Every time it fired, it jumped up 10,000ft due to recoil 😜

With all of that recoil the plane had the potential to be the worlds first vertical take off aircraft.

Invented in 1944... So almost near the End of the War... So what was its purpose? I can only imagine the use against civilian refugee treks. I dont think it would be efficient against infantry/soldiers. Sadly no word in the video about the intention of devoloping this weapon.

This idea merited further development. The USA adopted a saturation ground-attack concept with "Puff" in Vietnam, and of course most people will be familiar with the Warthog's notorious `burrrrp...'
