As the vocalist for my band, here’s tips for beginner vocalists:

1: KNOW WHAT GENRE YOUR BAND IS! This helps a ton when you are figuring out your range

2: You don’t need to add unnecessary adlibs to everything

3: don’t be cocky or full of yourself. Just because your the “singer” of the band does NOT mean you’re the most important

I wanna join/start a band that does a very unique rock sound. I have found a band called Ozric Tentacles, and it’s psychedelic rock, which isn’t everyone’s taste as there’s ambient and weird noises in the background. But the BASS! Man that drummer with the fast and simple fills and fast beats, with the bass man doing fast yet catchy and groovy bass lines that you can clearly hear apart from everything else makes a power duo that turns their songs into some of the biggest head bangers I’ve ever heard. The guitar player isn’t always shredding, which is good because it doesn’t drown out the beauty of the drum and bass. But when the guitar player is shredding, like in the song Kick Muck, it sounds really iconic just like thunderstruck from AC/DC. Strip the psychedelic elements from that and you have a style that COULD revolutionise rock.

The key to getting a crowd moving isn’t the guitar player showing off, but it’s in the combination of the drummer being in a fast pocket, and the bass player being very audible from the rest of the track, doing fast yet groovy bass lines, changing it up more often than other bands, and playing some dirty licks that don’t stray too far from what he’s already playing.

If you are interested in this sound, the absolute best example is the song Erpland by Ozric Tentacles. And other honourable mentions include Dissolution (The clouds disperse) and Kick Muck.

I got a drummer, a guitarist, and a bassist (me) starting a metal band as friends. but we've looked literally everywhere for a vocalist and we can't find any so we're gonna have to ozzy osbourne it. I can kinda do decent metal yelling at least

this was for me like, the first part was "Yeah we're kinda there now" then i went like "oh no that's gonna be horrible" and the last part was "ok, i know how to do that" knowing damn well i don't.

Things you need to start a band:
- Some instruments (Drums, bass, keyboard etc.)
- Motivation
- Recording stuff
- DAW
- The bois

I honestly don’t care if my band gets big. It would mean the world to me to just make grunge with my friends. I totally agree with the idea to start a band with the humble mindset of “we won’t get big”

if you want to gig right now you might want to consider drumming, i literally had first gig a month after beginning. There were easy songs from Megadeth to me though

tbh i do wanna reach fame and become succesful with my band, kinda wanna do metal n all but i dont think we will ever get fame. i mostly got inspired by tokio hotel

I just want to play agressive music with friends and know that most of my gigs will be pretty local prolly not make it big. It's just seeing people go apeshit crazy to shitty music that you yourself made is really funny. Small punk venues are also some of the funniest places to play in my experience.

literally everything you said made me more motivated to actually make a band. wish it wasnt 2:30 am because now im motivated to learn the bass more but instead i should definately be sleeping.

Dude tbh the intro is so depressing.

Shows and attention is cool but also just happens naturally when you just play stupid songs and have fun and prog rock when your ready and after college and remember prog is a letter away from prod(igy) so just have fun being an artist with artist where you live.
