Amazing thank's Sir
ОтветитьIt looks like a really good DVD. Very nice looking technique and straight forward instruction. Despite having access to a dojo and senseis, it's always good to review the basics and a different perspective from a different teacher can always offer something that may have been missed, despite seeming quite obvious. I was taught by sensei (in Australia) who emphasise technique. Now I live in Taiwan. Everyone is super fast, but I miss doing kihon, kata, etc. Where do these guys train?
ОтветитьBellevue, WA
ОтветитьThanks. That would be Washington, not Western Australia? Cool. Looks like you guys have some good kendo up there.
Ответитьlol basic "adventure" exercises. it's bokken not bouken.
ОтветитьI wish I'd had access to your linguistic expertise to correct my pronunciation of bokken...
ОтветитьPretty sure its ぼっけん so yeah, bokken.
ОтветитьI hate Hayasuburi... It always fails... -_-'
ОтветитьWell, it is a difference if there is a 7th dan explaining things or something else, in our dojo there is even no dan, just high kyus, yet I'm learning quite a lot.
Ответитьhaha, so true
Ответитьim thinkin of takin' lessons in Kendo ^^ seems very interesting.. :DD
ОтветитьIts really enjoyable. I'm dissapointed that it is not a constant olympics event (only appears in Japan hosted games)
ОтветитьDamn that is alot of stuff to remember......i was thinking about checking it out i may stick to judo and brazilian ju jitsu.
Ответитьi hear you but hell it just seems like alot. And its a great thing it seems but at this point i may go try Akido or something i was just looking around and decided to check it out. maybe one day ill try it but i'll stick .
Ответитьi agree with ya man
Ответитьdang. wish i could do that, but im too fat XD
ОтветитьJust try training then. If you really WANT something then go for it. Kendo is fun. Its hard at first, but you get the knack for it.
Ответитьi know im a 1 kyu in kendo. but, dang that is crazy...
Ответитьlol same here but i still try basic training ^_^
Ответитьlol ty
ОтветитьUnless you are a genius, I don't believe that following a dvd video will help introduce people to Kendo. Who would tell if a person's form or techniques are correct without a proper instructor? The same concept applies with all martial arts, you can't learn the art properly using this type of format. If someone really wants to learn Kendo, it is best to seek out an instructor who will teach him/her the proper techniques.
ОтветитьThis DVD is meant as a complement to dojo training, a tool to be utilized by a less experienced kendoka who would like to establish a dojo where none is available in conjunction with regular visits from established teachers. It is also a tool for beginners who just want to review the basics when not in class.
ОтветитьI would save this is more of a concept revision for anyone who are practicing kendo. It serve more as a guide. But i would have to agree that to properly learn kendo its best to search out for a sensei where he/she can properly teach you
ОтветитьKendo is a fun art.
Ответитьat 3:43 is the best part,i keep watch it repeatly.ohh and i just bought a kendo eventhough i dont know how to use it but soon i will be one of the top master of kendo,if not it will still be true in my dream.lol
Ответитьah, i've always wanted to take up kendo, but unfortunately, we live in a part of the country where there are no kendo dojo around :(
ОтветитьKendo is an amazing Martial Art that I plan to do for the rest of my life along with Iaido and Aikido. btw, this is my dojo and these are my sensei, Marsten sensei is awesome and I'm glad they made this video. also, the drill he does w/ the whistle is alot harder than it looks, lol (eventually he starts to fuck around and sends you in all directions really quickly, inevitably making you dance). but this is a great dojo and these sensei are such great teachers.
ОтветитьWow! Great to see respected sensei-tachi and friends from the PNKF here!
Ответить3:44 LOL lmao that is really the best part
Ответитьgordon2kam has graciously removed some inappropriate comments. Nuff said and blocked.
ОтветитьThe Autumn class is about to start in about a month and a half, I cannot wait! I heard Marsten Sensei is a serious dude, me and my buddies are pumped.
Ответить0:50 im sure that is naughty Seizar :P having your sword like that is considered extremely rude. it should either be on the other side or with the handle facing towards your back. Basically so it would be harder for you to cut off the head of the person sitting opposite you. =D
ОтветитьI would love to buy this. I was in kendo for two years in high school and still love it now, about 5 years later. I want to get back into it and I feel that this DVD could help me remember a lot about my training. In fact, just watching the trailer for the DVD reminded me of kirikaeshi, a practice I completely forgot I used to do. Right now, I'm looking for excercises my friend and I can practice at home without bogu. I plan to join a dojo in the next coming months when I start making money.
Ответитьcouldn't a single strike that was synchronised with fumikomi...talk about teaching...
Ответитьcouldn't count a single strike that was synchronised with fumikomi...talk about teaching...
ОтветитьWasn't Elvis an 8th Dan Karate expert? I'm just sayin.
ОтветитьThere are no Kendo, or Kenjitsu Dojos in southeast georgia, and barely anyone knows what it is :(
ОтветитьLol... This is the Bellevue Kendo Club's (BKC) DVD. I'm going to have to watch this DVD since I have a feeling that Sensei Marsten will be teaching with stuff from it.
Ответитьwhen i started kendo, i was trained by a woman kenshi from japan. i remember holding the bokken similar like 2:27, which is all the way to the back. I remember my sensei will ask me to do nothing else but for 10 hours, raising and lowering the bokken until i get the position right, left arm in front of head and the bokken should not go all the way to the back. straight line from your head down below. not parallel to the ground
Ответить@NODAMEGASUKI that's really crazy hitting that dude's head like that.
ОтветитьThis is good video. 0:45 is very good. This is kendo mind. This is START of KEIKO.I play Kendo in Japan nerima. We have same mind in the woeld.
ОтветитьWheres this dojo located id like to come
ОтветитьI am confused. I don't pratice Kendo for 7 years, but I am sure that I was tought to rise shinai over my head, not to touch my back with it, then with my hands near each other wring shinai while preforming cut and stamp. Now I see here quiet distance between hands and I am not sure but no wringing?
ОтветитьYou were probably looking at Jogeburi, which is essentially a loosening up exercise, swinging as far back as possible. Shibori (the "wringing of the towel") is still an essential part of the swing as this is what provides the power when everything comes together, i.e. "Ki-Ken-Tai-Ichi". I wish you good fortune if you return to Kendo.
ОтветитьI used this dvd to help me improve my Kendo techniques. Since I am only able to practice at my dojo, twice a week, I use this video and practice either in front of a mirror, or I record myself and compare it to the video. You can't learn "kendo" from a dvd, but it is a great way to supplement your training, familiarize yourself with the terms, and reference when you need it. It is a great dvd and I am grateful people took the time to make it.
ОтветитьNice video, sadly where i live there are no kendo schools but still is inspiring to see vids like this!
Ответитьthat guy looks exactly like the one in the last samurai xD
ОтветитьIgnorant fool
ОтветитьAlso makes for a nice review for those of us who have been out of the dojo for longer than we would have liked.
ОтветитьThe DVD set is extremely helpful!
