I just used my Gameshark SP when I was a kid, to see Deoxys. I also used it to get a Level 999 Shiny Rayquaza with Pokerus. I also used it to get to Mirage Island.

One big one in HGSS that you missed was Giovanni’s Cave in Togo Falls. You can only access this location by either doing the Celebi event where you will get transported there to fight Giovanni or by going to the location of the cave in Tohjo Falls behind one of the waterfalls. But there is nothing in there besides Giovanni’s radio.

When we were kids my brother found mirage Island. He was so happy to finally have the lieche Berry. It was a great moment in our childhood because when he went back to show me, the island was gone, though he had the berry to prove it was real. I just couldn't believe it 😂

I think in the early 2D games it's easier to hide secret areas because you have a fixed field of vision so it's simple enough to have some areas hidden out of view. Once you move to 3D they need to be a bit more creative in hiding areas because you can look around as much as you want.
