I was born 1993 attented manenberg high. First born out of 3 boys with my mother working by herself trying to make ends meet for us. It wasn't easy always being in survival mode growing up in poverty can either make bring the best out of you or the worst. Some kids doesn't have a choice however I was fortune enough to make proper decisions currently studying law and my younger brother is a teacher in this specific area where this video is being taken thames Ave storms river. Yes I feel we as coloureds weren't given a good hand from our ancestors but my wish is that one day we will unite into one fist and claim back our place on top of this soil where we belong.

These areas are so dangerous to the youth because these kids rarely leave these areas so the their only exposed to gangsterism, gangsters living however they want, demanding respect from others, driving loud cars, wearing jewelry, smoking, drinking, doing drugs, and chasing after the tattoos from prison and. This lifestyle looks cool to them, thats how these gangsters become their role models. The gangsters would offer them money to do runs for them that go under the radar because they're kids and this leads to them being recruited so young. Other stories are helpless kids like the 20y/o in this video that has nowhere to turn to and the only way to survive is to join a gang, especially with lack of work opportunities since South Africa is the country with the highest unemployment rate in the world(which inevitably leads to high crime rates). This is a the sad reality of the deadly Cape Town gangsterism cycle.
