Also yes, Lemmon is supposed to be a better deku, that's the whole point. He's a foil to deku the same way Overhaul is a foil to Shigi.

I like the 1A vs 1B arc but I could really do without some of the foghts (especially the Momo and Idea fights).

Your misunderstanding dekus power. It's all for one that has finally matured and thats why he's doing things all might couldn't I like the pacing because he has to work for his power thats what the training arcs are for

Their training allows them to grow in battle. Without training they wouldn't have room to grow the fights force them to their limits which are only high because they train so much. Just because they get power ups in battle doesn't mean they could have had that power up without training

I love mha to be honest I just really enjoy it i try to enjoy things for what they are.

Mha is alright. It's not amazing, just alright. The characters are okay, the villains are good, the art is pretty amazing, but the writing isn't the best. Deku is a very boring protagonist, somewhat likeable but boring.

been watching your videos and I've been wondering which manga took care of their op character(like all might, gojo, the wizard king etc) best in your opinion, or rather, which one did you like more.

As a bnha fan it always annoys me when people look at bnha on the surface level and assume it’s just an entertaining battle shonen without any deep themes within it. One if the main reasons i love my hero so much is precisely that: the themes it tackles and how interesting they are. The my villain academia arc is the perfect example, also the character of shigaraki and his parallels with deku. There’s an underlying message in my hero that has to do with criminality and how society shapes criminals (villains) and organizes itself to marginalize a certain group of people, and i hate that bc of the fandom and how the story is being read by the majority of people, all these things that horikoshi is trying to portray get lost. Anyways, bnha is underrated in that sense (don’t get me wrong, im not saying it isn’t popular bc it is) bc it doesn’t get all the credit it deserves for the actual things it does with its message, themes and characters that most of the time get overlooked

mha but its the story of mirio (lemillion) instead of deku seems much better to be, starting the story is such a early place (before they even join ua) just makes it so hard to progress and for deku to reach pro hero status in a consistent way. Tell the story of the struggles of a talented student in its last year in ua and his freshmen year as a pro and it might be a lot more consistent and a lot better overall, just my opinion tho

Something I think MHA does so much better than Black Clover is the characters. Black Clover’s characters are almost entirely a collection of tropes, they have extremely one dimensional personalities, and it gets really annoying a lot of the time, whereas MHA has much more fleshed out characters. And also Mineta, but you can’t win em all I guess.

Agree but you might need to watch videos to get a better idea through different perspectives. They need to make a their pacing and fight on par with their character drama development, everything needs to be balanced.

Lemillion, 3rd years and sir night eye is a much better plot line. When lemillion was sidelined I couldn't finish that season.

I just love listening to anime and manga reviews because I love knowing the strengths and limitations of each piece, but then I still find myself getting WAY TOO HYPED with MHA even though I know it isn't the "greatest". I honestly care more about how much it entertains me, but I still wanna be aware of the flaws so I don't make a fool of myself on twitter like other anime fans. It's always a competition with other anime and it's just exhausting listening to the fandoms.

class a vs class b only was able to unlock deku couldnt even control it and if it was unlocked in a life and death situation deku wont be even able to to control black whip also deku float quirk was helped by ochaco and tsuyu so it makes sense cause in a middle of a serious he cant just control a new ability so it correct to do that wat u are saying is the same ass style of shonen to get power up in a middle of fight which makes less sense idk cause i love the pacing .also class a vs b is the first time not 4 time lol. also the reason why he didnt think of using legs cause he was trying to copy all might then he knew he didnt have to become all might . he s a quirkless guy obv he ll try copy his fav hero until he comes to his senses he dosent need to copy his fav hero wats wrong in that .deku didnt even have hope to have quirk it was all might who gave hope . so for an intelligent guy to it ll take time to understand to make his own quirk style

Just think its now cool to hate My hero and Deku. People love to focus on the negatives, instead of the many MANY Positives.

Why the hate on deku, regarding shounen protagonists, he is refreshing, he is relatable anexious and low elf esteem, but also kicks ass and gives hella a fight pushing. Mirio, is boring, he is a good mirror but he exists that deku doesnt or even shouldnt be allmight, which deku in his hero worship, needed to hear. He is good, he got a bit repetitive but yeah for a shounen protag, he is intereasting and relatable.
And mirio is boring, imagine mirio as protag having no problems to face really and being really clishee, it would be boring. Dekus tendencies to ignore his needs and learn gradual, is good.

An the power up, probably the rest from the fomer arc stress build up, and got there, thats how anxiety attacks work often too, strike afterwards unexpected. And allmight never needed any more power, so he dint need to power up, all for one returning, so even outher sources helped. And allmight probably kew, at least gran torino did.

And the inbetweens were needed, its stilla school, you are supposed tolearn, in schools, and the pattern of incidents disturbing that the normalcy of the chool shook, and side character building. They are somewhat responsible anddi am glad that a school cares for its students.And the class needs to bond somewhere and just be teenager to grow up.
While its not perfect without the inbetween not so serious arc, that would be missing.

See, thing is, Deku wouldn't need any cheap power-ups if the author was consistent with his OFA percentages.
In reality, even a single percent up should be a massive power up.
Then all that time could be spent on his character development instead.

The only thing I really disagree on is the underdog part. Deku was already one of the strongest student in his class the moment he learned Full Cowling.

It makes sense for him to already be stronger than even Endeavor, because he inherited an even stronger version of All Might's quirk, who was by far the strongest pro hero even while heavily injured and weakened.

I think it'd be cool if a timeskip happens, and a big focal point and obstacle in the series is Deku's handling of being the strongest hero and the pressure of him being pretty much the biggest factor when it comes to saving everyone and preserving peace society.

Me personally I don’t mind the school themed arcs, and in the case of the festival and A vs B arc, I thoroughly enjoyed them. The main reason being if they had these extremely high stakes life threatening situations occur over and over again, it’d be difficult to keep the core high school environment in focus, as one of the main environments of the story is a high school. I think it’s fine to take breaks between the big stuff to focus on everyday school life for the students because it not only establishes the connections between all of class a, but it also serves as a relaxer between the tension of arcs like Overhaul. This is probably because I primarily experienced the series recently through the anime and then continued to read the manga afterwards but I digress😂😂

Tbh I just wish MHA came out around the same time Naruto did because when Naruto came out and was actually airing on TV, there was no toxic fanbase on social media and if there was, I NEVER saw them. Of course this is more than likely due to majority Naruto fans not really being on social media like that nor was social media all that big at that time but still it’s annoying. And the shippers are the worst. Now, every damn show has a toxic ass fanbase which contributes to the hate that a lot of these series gets and it also makes people eager to negatively criticize them. Of course the shows will have flaws but at least back then, people would have valid criticisms instead of this fan base BS but I also think that MHA would be a lot more appreciated then. Imo I rank MHA anime/manga 8/10 with the last arc that just finished 9/10. But I do understand some of the things people don’t like about it. Also, I’m not saying you hate the show, you made it clear that you didn’t and even though I don’t agree with some of your dislikes, it’s not unsolicited hate

I’ve been reading MHA since it’s debut and it never had me on the edge of my seat as much as other series.

The series felt like it started out with a pace of gradual threats rising, but after a certain point, the gears shifted to a pace that the characters wasn’t ready for. It feels like they had to change up the pacing, either to reach an end or keep up with the pace of other series.

I forced myself to watch MHA till the first episodes of season 3. I didn't like it and found it flat.

I wonder how many of these decisions are from the editors/publishers vs what the author wants. I feel like the author has the potential to go against a lot of the common shonen manga tropes but is pressured into including the tropes and archetypes that the editors and publishers want. That's just an opinion and I could be completely wrong, but it's my guess.

I generally agree with most points, except the class A vs class B thing. I think most shounon loose track of their original theme too fast and snowballs into a power creep story where the author constantly needs to find new ridiculous ways to progress the story. The main theme of MHA is that it is a school of heroes. I think it's important to get back to the theme of the school between the bigger arcs. Similar to how One Piece needs to show the adventure feeling, Fairy Tale needs to show it's about a guild etc. It makes the big arcs feel bigger and it allows us to remember the whole "school of heroes" feeling. It also makes it feel less like the DBZ syndrome of "oh look, now they face a stronger enemy, AGAIN". I could see it eventually have the main cast graduate and go into a second part of the story, like Naruto Shippuden.
Though I agree that the power ups in especially the Joint Training arc was just dump. That should have been part of a "big" arc.

For me, it’s a good anime/manga but nothing INSANELY good. I like it, but I’ve honestly lost quite a bit of interest.

Unpopular Opinion: Shigaraki isn't a good Villain

MHA is the definition of mid. There are a million other series I'd recommend to someone before it, but I don't regret reading it either.

Overhaul was great villian, Shigaraki is worst.

My Hero Academia is a nice shonen manga, however it has too many drawbacks. For me the main character is not that interesting, his personality is sometimes too shonen cliche. Some of the world building is interesting though and there are some other aspects, like, some of the arcs like the Overhaul arc, that contribute to being a series to watch.

Got to be honest Shigaraki is kind of lackluster IMO. Even with his back story...he doesn't really do a whole lot. I keep wanting more every time I see him.

I'm kind of late but, I think the fact that Mirio(Lemillion) feels like he could or should be the main protagonist is one of the reasons why he exists.
Deku's been doubting his worthiness of his power since the beginning of the series. That's why he cries so much, he KNOWS he is lucky.
Trying to copy All-Might, his friends and other heroes. He can barely make HIS power his own.

Suddenly he finds out that All-Might was planning on giving his power to Mirio. Deku has the same mindset of the readers: he doesn't deserve One For All. When Mirio loses his power, Deku doesn't hesitate to give Mirio One For All. He even forgets about using Eri's rewind ability.
All-Might saw Deku's heart and told him he could become a hero. It's his hero academia after all. And ours as well.

I don't like MHA. Just don't like it. Literally no reason. I tried to watch the anime and barely made through the first season. I just felt like I'm wasting my time. Then I tried the manga and it was even worse because at least there was big amount of good music in anime.
