The story goes too slow. Had to abort for the first time.
ОтветитьI was on a flight that had two go arounds due to gusts when close to landing at Chambery airport in France and then diverted, apparently to Geneva but we landed in Lyon. The most nerve-wracking flight I've been on and I expect it landed on fumes as the go arounds from out of the Chambery valley felt like max power for 5 minutes each time.
ОтветитьWhen you said the cockpit voice recordings were lost, I just assumed the plane was going to crash, and was bracing for impact, so to speak.
ОтветитьI get why he went around a 2nd time, but not a 3rd...that was super brave!
ОтветитьThe pilot clearly panicked and this was obvious from the way he tried to catch the localizer by cutting the turn short twice. "Climate change" is the new catch-all excuse and I have serious doubts it even exists. Thank you for this very interesting story!
ОтветитьI've had to experience a flight into weather which resulted in two go arounds at MEL - huge drops due to wind shear and crosswinds had us over the grass rather than the strip on one of the attempts. If this is normal then I can't imagine how bad weather must be before a pilot decides to fly to an alternate.
ОтветитьWell... let's blame it on climate change. Torrential rain in South East Asia seems pretty normal to me. Great channel. Lol
ОтветитьI guess the lesson learned here is....when there are widespread thunderstorms around and your destination goes down, divert early to the further away but safe location(as they could have done when they were entering the first hold). If it had just been one or two isolated thunderstorms or very localized, then it is reasonably safe to stick around and wait with the closer alternates available.
ОтветитьI still remember one of the worst storms I’ve ever witnessed was as a kid while on vacation in America. We were in Florida in September 2003 and there had been a hurricane sweeping across the area. We’d had to move accommodation a few times during the holiday to stay ahead of the storm, but when in the airport for the flight home, it hit pretty hard. I was only young but I have vivid memories of seeing the lightening strike the ground near the runway, and the thunder being so violent that sometimes the windows of the building would vibrate and it felt like a mini earthquake. At that age it was quite scary.
Ответитьall I can say is that pieolt pilot knows his aircraft
ОтветитьThe pilot did a good job and knew what to do in order to land the jet safely. I think it is always a good idea to carry extra fuel especially in adverse weather conditions. So grateful they landed safely! ❤ God blessed them.
ОтветитьYou made this case unnecessarily long and boring.
ОтветитьThe opinion of ANYONE who supports and repeats the leftist BS about material man-caused climate change canNOT be trusted on anything of importance. .
ОтветитьWOW! Been biting my nails during the second half of this presentation...
Captain, B757 (42 years in the air with 22,000+hrs)
PS: One thing my instructors put in my brain 4 decades ago was to always slow down both my brain and my plane...
My passenger opinion is top off the tanks, man.
ОтветитьYes,climat is the problem🤦♂️
ОтветитьAmazing narrations of chain of events, it’s a miracle that this flight landed safely, thank God
ОтветитьGood grief, my anxiety levels were skyrocketing towards the end there! This man's presentation, explanations and retelling of an incident are exemplary!
ОтветитьWeird that this story only seems to exist here on this video. I can’t find any references to it other than from websites that link to this video. No mention on professional pilot forums either.
Can anyone provide links to this that aren’t connected to this video ?
I’m just interested. Not making accusations of invention, obviously.
On a far lesser scale my car fuel light came on and my sat nav gave me directions to the nearest garage but on arrival looked like it closed in 1960, the sat nav then gave me another garage which on arrival was closed. I was now in the middle of nowhere in Wales with 0 miles on my fuel gauge. The third garage was open and I filled up. I was worried at zero feet had i been at 2000 feet I would have panicked in spades
ОтветитьThese videos are putting me off flying!!
ОтветитьCool video! What happens with the passenger when landing at a alternate Airport? Fo they have to wait for another plane to take them or what?
ОтветитьMate, I really like the vids you put up! Appreciate the effort
ОтветитьHow did ww2 era pilots land in bad weather before all the fancy modern technology?
ОтветитьCompletely pilot error.
This is Singapore Airlines: they have lots of experience of thunderstorms in this area; they are very frequent. As soon as they heard about the weather, before they even took off, Kuala Lumpur should have been their first alternate. They would, after all, arrive with more fuel.
"Target fixation" comes to mind, but you will always want to land at your destination because it's good for everyone and angry passengers are a PITA, not to mention how much more expensive a diversion is, etc. etc. So if I heard you right, the report suggests they should have diverted earlier, right? But.. all of their alternates were under the same conditions (unless I missed something). Does a pilot have the right to land at their original destination regardless of weather if it's an emergency? Sounds like yes in which case.. Why did they just not land at Changi? If declaring a fuel emergency wouldn't it be "open" regardless?
ОтветитьTrying to score some social points by adding climate change just remove credibility from the report.
Ответитьok just congratulations on actually keeping the suspense until the very end. the way you mentioned lost CVR and stuff like that made me sure this one would crash but man that sigh of relief when they put it on the ground at the absolute last moment possible holy crap man, that's good storytelling!
ОтветитьThe weather is likely no more intense than it was 100 years ago. No way for them to prove that.
ОтветитьThe 3d graphic animations are really incredible. Thank you for having such a dedicated and talented team to work on the incredible production quality!
ОтветитьYes she has admitted her guilt. She admitted it in church. And she admitted it in her pleading to the subpoena when she mentioned Wade's wife cheating on him.
ОтветитьFuel reserves should always be more than sufficient even if it adds weight and cost. You cannot be in a situation where the pilot will have to ditch the plane and endanger the lives of those in the plane due to lack of fuel.
ОтветитьBig up to the grafic disgner
ОтветитьAny landing you can walk away from is a good one. Nuff said!!
ОтветитьWhy only 2 pilots for a 13 hour flight? Shouldn't there be 3 pilots? 2 main pilots and a rest pilot?
ОтветитьIn so many these videos of incidents and accidents I hear that the cockpit voice recording has been lost. Why is that?
Ответить@MentourPilot why wouldn’t the pilot throttle back and go into a slip on the second approach? Is that a no-no for airliners?
ОтветитьI like your narrative. ,clear and informative. The pilot need to be prepared for worse situations mind set.
ОтветитьThe behaviour of air traffic control was unacceptable here. There should be a solid time limit for how long they have to let a plane know whether or not they can land at a given location. The idea that a plane could run out of fuel while waiting for information from air traffic control is just crazy to me.
Ответить"Straight up their tail" sounds painful
Ответитьi love how dramatic you tell these stories.
Ответитьnow i know where the flight anxiety comes from. need to respect the wi s…
ОтветитьMan the stress of flying around that much passengers and limited time in rough weather, man that's why I'm not a pilot, the stress that comes with it all where it's your life on the line is just mind blowing. Prayers for all pilots and crew
ОтветитьMy thoughts? I'll still not get on a plane if there's bad weather in any part of my flight :P
ОтветитьWas this storm really caused by climate change?
ОтветитьI am hooked on this channel. 2 days ago I randomly clicked on it when it was a recommendation for me on my TV. Immediately I was in deep, the quality, the narration, the explanation, all top notch. I have already told 7 people at my work about this channel and how awesome the content is. Many of these incidents I am unaware of and I legit am at the edge of my seat as the story unfolds. Sometimes I cannot wait and have to Google what happened. One thing I always do is Google the image of pilots so I can relate / visualise better. I do understand why Peter doesn’t show them due to privacy and respect for the pilots. Keep doing this, I have learned so much about aviation and next time I am in the plane as a passenger, I will pay special attention to what the pilot is announcing.
