nice... I start like this in 28 years ago
ОтветитьWatching you guys makes my back hurt
Ответитьnice
ОтветитьOr you could just get a hand mag made for that. I've done it both ways more consistent with the hand tool.
ОтветитьNice tip guys ! Thanks
ОтветитьYou folks are a very talented group. Looks like alot of unnecessary work to me. Is there any reason why you can't set the garage door for on the inside of the stemwall? Please educate me
Ответить1/2 inch ply wood nailed on top of form. Remove said plywood and run a small screed to point. Pissah
ОтветитьThat concrete should have air in that part, that is why i box mine out and pour them sperate, ive seen so many flake off doing it that eay
ОтветитьThere is actually a tool you can use to do that. That is what it was made for. It's like a regular mag float But at about 8 inches from the tip it goes down 3/4 on an angle and has a lip that you can rest on the header Not sure what it's called. we just call it the Cool Tool. we dig out just like you are showing here but after you dig a little out you use the cool tool and its super easy and super fast.
ОтветитьYou always post videos when things are going good. Let's see some days the concrete blows up on you, giving tips on how to catch back up and fix everything to look nice.
ОтветитьI do this for a living... Yet I still love to watch. Whats wrong with me.
ОтветитьWe lay a 1 x 6 flat at the door openings and screw thru form. Pull the board while hard troweling and hand trowel the area. The door closes down into this and makes a 3/4" lower lip. Like your way also.
ОтветитьSet your bulk head inch lower than grade at the front of garage then pour that first level or slight pitch and put a 1 by board over the top of that ... then when pouring garage just go to the top of the 1 by cut side joint on that and the bulk head Done. Garage door comes down on the lower part of the garage the lip we call it then the rest of the garage is 1 inch higher with pitch coming out so now Ayer can come in and all goes out.. we usually put 4 inches on garages when there is no drain
ОтветитьBuilding on the Washington coast that's a must, especially if door faces south. I do almost the same except I leave it as a pocket, not smoothing the inside edge. I make it straight by notching a 12" 2x4 a 1/2". Then if water gets past the door gasket it will come up against the 1/2" dam.
ОтветитьPut some music to the vids nice mike
ОтветитьThat’s no trick
ОтветитьUsing those shallow edgers. The deep edgers look better
ОтветитьWhy don’t u just put lip on it
ОтветитьHow much is concrete per yard now?
ОтветитьSo im kinda a freak about this. I have made a darby with a 10 inch long and 1 inch deep wedge attached to it. Simular to the door tools already made. I just prefer a darby because it will be consistent with the floor due to the length of a darby. After cutting and maging it out i bring in a strike off to check. Very important if there is a pitched drain by the door. The cutting tool will not be completly acurate with the overhead door seal. Love these videos Keep them Coming!!!!
ОтветитьTounges
ОтветитьI don’t think they got youngest never heard a word from them even seen them look at the camera lol good guys u got there thou
ОтветитьMike what are your thoughts on the new orange thunder mag float?
ОтветитьIf you had a 1 1/2 inch weather lip the fall on the garage door apron would be easy enough to get !!
ОтветитьWe set the form board to the inside wall, eliminated the need to slope the garage slab. Also reduces the chance of cracking in garage slab. Especially good to do if any sort of epoxy or coating is going to happen to slab.
Ответитьperfect as usual
ОтветитьHas anyone seen craft float with notch in it for cutting out garage doorways?
ОтветитьI teach my guys to use a wood stake and set a nail 3/4 of an inch up, and strike off the first 8" of the door way, from nothing on the inside to 3/4 down against form. The nail acts as a guide
Ответитьhow about just dropping the outside form down a half a inch then just mag down to that on an angle from the inside of the wall to the outside form board
ОтветитьAlso I've done many ways....and I usually just grab the door tool....but its always good to know exactly what to do in case you can't find it or something
ОтветитьSHANE here with Disciples concrete....Luke an Darin are slaying it as usual....IN CONCRETE WE TRUST!!
ОтветитьI remember when I was young that I always thought I didn't have much time to work concrete because I would here stories that cement trucks drivers would hold a load to long and it would dry up inside. I don't know maybe someone was trying to scare me to work harder. I wanted to do the best job and rushing was always my downfall. thanks mike for those who will learn better then I did.
ОтветитьWhat a waste of time and concrete, just cut a 2x4 with the desired slope and rod it . No waste
ОтветитьThanks for the video from Davenport Iowa
ОтветитьGreat tips as always Mike. Thanks 👍
ОтветитьWe use temples a lot. But it’s mostly all for metal buildings They’re normally the same size doors. 10’-14’. We’re always short handed so. It’s helps with time for us. Can’t find people to work around here.
