bill burr is a legend. man went largely unnoticed for most of his career and just blew up in the last few years despite him being consistently funny his whole career. he has put in the time, done the hard work and got rewarded for it in the end. also a truly independent thinker, he doesnt go all in on the culture war crap or chase an audience like other weaker comics have after covid. great dude

That was a great show! This was my 1st time watching Howie’s podcast. I always loved Howie all the way back with his rubber glove routine - HYSTERICAL! Boy, that was a long time ago! He’s why I watched St. Elsewhere - cuz of his stand-up act. I thought Howie would be really uptight for some reason, but he’s a super funny nut-job phobe who appears super relaxed - on the outside anyway. His dot didn’t seem like an anxiety type gal at all - must be over specific things, like she said driving (or riding in) cars & flying - certainly not socially or publicly. I’d be interested in knowing how Howie’s germ phobia effected his dot growing up, & if he is more relaxed about germs now. Anywho, Bill, Howie & his kid were an excellent group.! I will definitely watch this podcast again!

How incredibly insufferable is Howie in this interview? He adds nothing to the conversation and seems to be on Adderall or some sort of simulant. Bill carries the entire interview and somehow manages to keep his composure and not call out Mandel and his daughter on their absolute shittyness.

The fact that the first words out of Bill’s mouth when you started the Kirk Douglas story, are the exact same words out of Theo’s mouth when you started the same story during his interview, tells me all I need to know about the three of you. I love the light you all bring to this world, and while I have a different definition of “the C,” I’m glad that He (or She) put you, Bill, Theo, and so many other great comedians together at the same time. Heaven knows we need your art right now!

I guess its just me but Mandel blew smoke up Burr's ass for way to long. Sheesh

the thing about being good at music/drums or really anything, is that there are two versions of good. Both require time practicing to become "good" and skilled at the act or process, but one is achieved through pure willpower spent on hard work, the other is instead achieved through an inherent love of every moment of that work. The truly great are almost always from that second category, not the first. Because that second category can buy you more time than the first is really ever capable of. The truly talented are built to do the work without ever needing much willpower to do it, they just do the work naturally as natural as breathing. They drum because they are meant to drum. Where as the rest of us just want to be good at drumming for fun. Having the ability to recognize that difference within ourselves is important to discovering what we are truly made to do.

I dont understand why the beauty in the universe Needs to be the result of some higher intelligence. Why cant the universe simply be beautiful on accident? Why cant the universe itself be given the credit for its own beauty, instead of stealing that credit and inventing some kind of "artist" to give that credit to? What is the value in that extra superfluous step ?
