This video tells what you need to know to keep the brain healthy. Muscle training, a healthy diat and good sleep should keep us fit and vital for a long time!
ОтветитьWhat a stellar guest. Incredibly articulate and excellent at explaining concepts to the general public.
ОтветитьThis was one of the best videos I’ve seen describing how resistance training impacts health. It was very well organized and explained clearly for the lay person.
ОтветитьMy SuperSet Fitness routine is a 30 minute stationary bike routine / 30 minute 330 to 1000 high repetition weightlifting routine focusing on 1 muscle group per sessions.
ОтветитьLess that 20 minutes in and I have already learnt to much! This is a real kick in the pants to up my exercise - and I will continue to listen to the end. Thank you so much for this life-changing information!
ОтветитьNO IT IS NOT. Zone 2 cardio is maximum mitochondrial expression! NOTHING compares! Proven: Inigo San Millan.
ОтветитьBeautiful discussion. Very interesting.
ОтветитьGreat interview👍
ОтветитьI'm with you👍
ОтветитьYes👍
ОтветитьThank you and kudos for focusing on women for part of the talk.
ОтветитьGreetings! I just read Brain Maker. I fermented a bunch of meat and the pH is not within the 3 to 4 range where bad bugs can't get in. I've been feeding it to my pet companion. She got a cold. She never gets a cold. I'm wondering if I should shuck it because it didn't reach the appropriate pH. Can anyone help me with a possible solution? Thank you!
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this conversation. Learning about anything that helps to target brain health for us over 50 and especially for us to share with our kids and grandkids is SO IMPORTANT, particularly when it’s something we can do for ourselves… not in the hands of others.🙏🙏🙏
ОтветитьJust don't tell people to lift everyday.😮 recovery is equally important. Most ppl over-train: less is more.
ОтветитьExcellent. Thank you. 🎉❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьIt’s Time to get serious about resistance training
ОтветитьGreat video! I am a Nurse Practitioner and plan to share this information with my patients!
ОтветитьI just paid for a gym membership. Weather permitt8, I'll start tomorrow!
ОтветитьTwo brilliant doctors- thanks so much for educating us- more content like this please🙏
Ответитьoh my....I wish you scientifics would spend time speaking to us lay people and seniors who do not always have your special language...we are NOT ALL Young hackers wanting to live long....I ama senior in 80s who discovered a med given me by a doctor causes androgen blockage and affects muscle health at a time when we are losing muscles anyway...I supplement hormones so "welcome to decorapracy and helplessness in a time when we need to protect our body!!! Please speak simply and do not focus on longer life, we need the healthiest and most independent life! creatine, phospo creatine What the heck are you talking about! Perhaps we need a vocab list?
ОтветитьThanks for this great information
ОтветитьMany thanks, Drs. Perlmutter! One of the best poscasts I have heard in years. I will return to listen to this several more times. Excellent, actionable information!
ОтветитьI'm very much a senior and starting to experience brain fog. Grateful to both of you for this thorough discussion on role of exercise for brain health. Time to be serious about doing exercise.
ОтветитьThanks for having me on!
ОтветитьI exercised almost daily since I was 60yo. As a lean 70yo man, I exercise EVERYDAY and eat daily omelet of 6x-large eggs (thanks Dr Harcombe & Dr Georgia Ede) and 1 small can of sardines (thanks to Dr Bozworth & Dr Dray) with garlic, ginger ETC cooked with EVOO. According to recent research, I supplement whey concentrate (not the isolate of which some good elements may have been removed). My daily protein is about 30-40 grams. For carbs I eat less sweet fruits like bananas, papaya, mango, vegetables and honey - no rice, no bread, no sugar. Excess proteins will be converted to carbs and fats. More heavy weights exercise will need much proteins foods that cannot be digested by older persons. Older persons [more than 40 yo] need only enough protein to maintain lean muscles for longer lifestyle. High protein is unhealthy (Refer to Dr. Dan Zatarski, Dr. Longo, Dr. Rosdale, Dr. Tim Spector and others). Higher protein intake would require a person to lift heavier weights, which stresses the internal organs - heart, liver, kidneys, joints ETC – that’s why bodybuilders do not live long. I do not need much protein, because I maintain lean muscle mass for longer life. I do different exercises each of 7 days/week, as follows: leg or arm REDUCED EXERTION HIT [REHIT] daily for about 9-14 minutes for 2 sets [left side and right side] with 1-dumbbell=12lbs [or 1-hand push-up] for 3-4 minutes until near exhaustion/failure to raise the heart-rate to about 90%, interspersed with 2-3 minutes rest; then repeat for the right side of the body. Add more dumbbell plates as we get stronger. The rest of the 9-14 minutes is for warm-up and cool down. Daily REHIT need less protein to metabolize for lean muscle-maintenance, until up to 140 maximum years. According to research, combined 1-dumbbell and cardio exercise increases health-span/life-span to 40+ years.
ОтветитьThis young man is a little verbose and it is a longngngng video with many repetitive comments...condensed..it is great info.
ОтветитьIt’s all the perfusion. Literally getting blood/nutrients to the brain. That’s it.
ОтветитьMaybe dementia induce sarcopenia ?
ОтветитьThank you so much father and son 😊 for all you said. So important for a good life. As an ergonomist I always raises awareness on a sendentary lifestyle in companies. We all need muscles exercises for health.
🏋️🚴🏊
Running and even walking are involved too for bones health through the vibrations and shocks received by the osteoblasts !
Dr Google (Mayo Clinic) says that Aerobic exercise extends longevity the most 🤔
ОтветитьPersistently anabolic likely leads to cancer growth. There are plenty of examples of old pics (the black & white kind!) of people around the world that are very lean and muscular yet have a super low protein diet. Interestingly in this video the claim is we don't know the protein requirement for muscle gain or maintenance, and then they go on to suggest high levels. What happens if you do the exercise bit and keep protein intake low? Also, the studies that show calorie restriction leads to longevity also show similar (same?) results for protein restriction.
ОтветитьThe #1 reason people enter long term care is because they can’t get out of a chair independently. Don’t skip leg day.
ОтветитьHemp protein and hemp hearts will help build muscle before and after weight lifting .
ОтветитьMy passion and my profession I work with cognitive patient thank u ! Excellent
ОтветитьThat was an amazingly interesting talk! Thankyou. I have shared this with my family.
ОтветитьFantastic discussion, thank you. I'm in my fifties & only started exercising about 5 years ago. So thankful I did, as I feel I'm fighting against the aging process. I have to say, I love my defined quads; I dont find it 'un-feminine' at all!
ОтветитьAlzheimer’s is Diabetes 3. Mussels are Gloocoze eaters
ОтветитьThank you for this video! My dad had a stroke in April of last year and has aphasia and on top of that they think he might have vascular dementia. I have been looking into everything possible to help with his cognition. He already takes EPA/DHA supplements and I am hoping he will add some resistance training to his schedule. He does take walks throughout the day but like I said I am trying everything I can to help him have the quality of life he deserves! I am grateful for doctors like you all because I have lost all hope and faith in our standard health care system who only wants to hand out a pill for everything.
Ответитьim 60. dont know how to stop on rollerblades. nevertheless just got back from rollerblading through Santa Monica for 90 minutes. at times felt like a 2 year old trying to walk, other times like a pro athlete. its about cardio and risk taking to kept your brain young and endocrine system active,. . concede Nothing to Father Time.
