nice work looks good
ОтветитьThey way this dude paints makes me cringe
ОтветитьYour note about puttying the edges of MDF is invaluable! Thank you!
ОтветитьThank you for the awesome video! We'll be giving it a try this week!
ОтветитьHow to install the beadboard near and under the window? which additional gang outlet box spaser extender to use (if using planks? he didn’t say anything... absolutely useless video.👎👎👎
ОтветитьI also have a lot of Rigid tools but I dont think Im going with their miter saw. Too much dust blowing back in your face.
ОтветитьWouldn't it have been better to do the floor first before putting on the shoe molding?
ОтветитьAnother tip would be if you're not using adhesive is to angle your nails the opposite ways when shooting them, instead of straight in, it's more resistant to move off the wall.
ОтветитьJust brings the wow factor up. Lovely.
ОтветитьThis look awesome, I am a newbie, I will tackle a project like this. What is the make and model of cordless nail gun, you are using?
ОтветитьThis looks great. Amazing work
ОтветитьI miss sketch up
ОтветитьYou say you didn't glue the boards, but you pretty much did when you caulked them. That caulk will hold them on better than the nails, so I can't see a need for glue on the back of them as well. I would have used the caulking on all joints and gaps, rather than the spackle on the few you did. Laundry rooms see big temperature and moisture swings so I'm a little worried the spackle joints will crack over time.
ОтветитьI don't understand why so many people use that quarter round to help hide the gap on baseboard. The real trick is to scribe the bottom of it, run the bottom through a table saw at a 45 not removing any width to the trim (just to remove the material you wont see) and then sand down the material to your scribe line. That way you arent trying to sand down the whole bottom and only that 45 angle point at the bottom.
ОтветитьAwesome video, and great explanations! When you redo the flooring are you going to have to tear out your new baseboards, or do you just push it up against the baseboards? I’m running into the same issue with my home and not sure which project to tackle first (flooring vs board/batten)
ОтветитьThank you for showing me I can do this. I am anxious to do this kind of woodworking but have some anxiety in getting started. Every time I watch your videos, I hope I could become one of your protases and learn from you to do what
I know I am capable of doing.
i really love when you do your experiments and stress tests. Please let me be your apprentice and teach me what you know.
Just FYI, we don’t do “project cuts” at Home Depot. Our saw is basically to help customers that don’t have a large vehicle, get their plywood home. We are told to refuse anything more than that. Don’t expect to go there and have them “cut all your trim pieces” out of a sheet of plywood. Rent a saw and do it in the parking lot if u feel the need. I’m just sayin…. 🤷♂️👍
ОтветитьGreat job and tutorial!
ОтветитьGreat work! I'm inspired to try this myself
ОтветитьMDF board, garbage, use real wood
ОтветитьMy house has an extension where the walls are rendered brick. Is it possible to add Wainscoting on a rendered wall?
ОтветитьI see you are using 5.25" tall baseboard and 3.5" wide vertical slats, however you do not mention the board width for the upper horizontal rail. What board width did you use?
ОтветитьNeed a back panel for textured walls.
ОтветитьDo you know the name of the color that you used looks great
ОтветитьCrazy, that same MDF board is 90 dollars with tax now
ОтветитьYou should NEVER EVER EVER use MDF for the baseboards. The slightest bit of moisture and they swell and are ruined. You’re using this in a laundry room, and the harsh reality of that is that at some point in its life, this room will probably see flooding from a leaking washer, or pet damage. ALWAYS use real wood or plywood for base mounding. Always.
ОтветитьHow much you charge for the sqft
ОтветитьThanks you so much for this great video.
ОтветитьWhy wouldn't you do the flooring first?
ОтветитьExcellent video - thank you!
ОтветитьI assume you had already decided on a floating floor for the remodel, as a new tile floor would have been done before the wainscoting?
ОтветитьHi Brad! How long did it take for you to complete this project?
Ответитьwhere did you get the spanner clamp?
ОтветитьHey, Brad, love it! What's the blue-green color?
ОтветитьGood luck getting my Home Depot to make all those cuts.
Ответитьgreat video man, but this is my issue, me and my wife want to do this in our home but every single one of these videos for beginners, and DIY always involve big machinery used to cut everything and here i am with just a hammer and a screwdriver. Do i really need to go and buy saw tables and what not just to do some wainscoting in my house?
ОтветитьYou used MDF for baseboards in a laundry room?
ОтветитьWhat is the general rule for the distance between each vertical board? I know this is likely based on the width of MDF or Baseboard used, but is there a rule of thumb?
Ответитьso you put up no board on wall just paint as disguise like a board then two baseboard up and bottom then section division nice trick i like that
ОтветитьNext time you have a contrasting wall color,
Run a bread of caulk along the corner for a super straight cut in line.
Being that this is your first time why is this a
"HOW TO" instead of a "HOW I" video.
Your "patch board" should have a 45 degree cut also with the overlap facing away from the most viewed area.
THERE IS NO "X" IN ESPECIALLY!
FYI: fingerboard trim... after several years the glue releases and the wood starts coming apart.
Go Vols!
ОтветитьGood video. I am a 3rd generation carpenter and have done many different styles and lay-outs for wanescoting. I just wanted to give a few tips.
1 - just use 1x4 or 1x5 (actual sizes in canada are 11/16" x 3.5"/4.5") material over sheet goods (it costs less and comes pre-primed and you don't have to rip anything and that joint at 8 ft. won't occur because they come 16ft. long)
2 - The best way to do this style is to buy a 4' x 16' x 3/4" sheet and cut-out the squares so there are no joints to crack over time. this style will eventually crack so filling the vertical will only work for a few years unless you join them (ie. biscuits or other way). You could use a 1/8 roundover bit on the cross-cut ends (like concrete curbs) to make it look like you planned for the eventual cracking that is almost guaranteed to occur.
those top loading agitatorless washers are absolutely horrible. I have one and it sucks.
ОтветитьHoly crap..... Wasn't gonna say anything about all the shady practices but when I got to the part putting MDF as baseboard in a laundry room I had to speak up....😬😬
Ответитьthank you for this video!! Most useful 👍
ОтветитьWhat color code paint is that?
ОтветитьCool video thanks for sharing
ОтветитьLove it,
ОтветитьKiller video my hubby can’t go wrong with this! 😂
