I remember that one time back in the 2000s when a rental clerk had an ongoing conversation with a client about not handing out their elise in winter. They decided the audience in the next big town (Hamburg that is) is better suited for this car than the people around here lol. Sadly I missed driving it myself that way.

Well considering what Lotus is making today its pretty clear that there is no Lotus anymore.

I remember when I was 12 I saw one of these dino 246 for sale in Atlanta trader for $1200.00. I called about. The man that owned it passed away and his wife was selling all his stuff. I begged my parents to get it. As a project car for my first car. My parents didn't want to buy me a project car. Years later I showed them what they are worth. They admitted they regretted not getting it.

I don't think that's how you get into an Lotus Elise, you sit your bum on the door sill, then you spin and lift your feet into the footwell as you slide and drop into the seat.

For 20 of the last 30 years, I only drove Alfa Romeos because a friend owned a shop that serviced them. When I moved away in 2008, I left my Spider, my Milano and my 164. Nothing captured my heart until the 2005 Elise I bought in 2010. Every day that car puts a smile on my face. Even as I miss my old Alfas, I will never, ever sell my Elise.

The 1948 Morris Garages TC model was a basic 2 seat roaster with a 1250 cc, I4 engine.

Certainly a slew of Fanboys here. I've owned a couple of Lotii ... for over 12 years.
Yess they can be fun to drive.
BUT they are also THE worst quality control manufacture devised by Humans.
Absolutely abysmal Screws that missed their intended fastenings, Bio degradable interior materials Suspension parts that simply Fell off ! I lost entire wheels (2 separate occaisions) at highway speeds. Interesting events. Frankly these days I won't even sit in one of these POS cobble ups. Take that dose of reality..Deluded Fan boys.

If i was rich as hell and could afford an actual fleet of cars, two of my top ten cars are the original Elise and an Ariel Atom. Between those two i figure any normal person's drive fast compulsions could easily be sated.

The Scottish motor show you mentioned was at the Scottish exhibition centre in 1996 I believe I know cos I was there 💪

I live somewhere near the alps. Streets are narrow and twisty around here. There is a guy with a 600+ hp V12 Kompressor Mercedes, that has about the same way to work at about the same time as i. He can't keep up with my 800kg Suzuki, especially on the downhill. That overweight car simply doesn't want to change direction, with his wide car on these streets, it's like threading a needle, i can afford to go wide and screw up. I know how humiliating it is, to be left in the dust from a car with much less power. Chapman was right, simplifying and adding lightness works wonders.

Have you also made a video about alfa romeo 4c? I think we can compare it ti the lotus elise: same philosophy: small car, lightweight, 2000 cc engine for the 4c and carbon fiber instead of aluminum.
