I totally disagreed with you to bargain for few dollars. I spent at least three months in bangkok every year. The Thai are offered relatively fair price ( I live in on nut). For taxi rides I use grab or bolt. I dine in the restaurants, food courts or street food stalls. I buy clothes in the shopping malls so no need to negotiate at all. Even though in the night markets in bangkok, I don’t think it’s necessary to bargain. People have family to feed

For those who dont feel comfortable bargaining or dont know where to start, here is a simple way to get a good price.

Whatever price they give you, divide by 3 and ask for that. For Eg, they say 600, you say 200. They will slowly come down, and you will need to go up from the 200 in small increments eg 210, 220, 240. If you get anything below half of their original price, you are winning.

The way to get a good price is to be polite and playful. Dont be a dickhead, they are just trying to make a living.

Also, be prepared to walk away if they cant/wont do the price. Someone else will.
