Awesome review! Too bad all head units have tremendous lag with the touchscreen and or Apple CarPlay… my friends $700 Sony has the same CarPlay lag as my $100 boss stereo

I used to have radios like this back when the Pioneer App radio was out and you could mod it to mirror your phone video and all, true mirroring but was not easy plus always the glitches and once they came out with full on android head units never saw the need for these types of mainstream locked down head units anymore. I wish these well know brands made android stereos for cars but it's probably a list of legal issues stemming from being able to freely use any app at any time like watching tv while driving down the road lol i don't do this with mine but you could and bet major brands would take heat and lawsuits if anything bad happened while using their equipment, well i mean you have to sue someone for your crash if you survive that is for it totally wasn't your fault lol watching some P-Hub while doing 90 down the freeway 🤣🤣

Edit: I just watched the video and it's pretty much the same thing as my nakamichi on my demo display. The software appears to be pretty close, just a little different on design. If you took the badging off of each one and had me demo each without me knowing what they were, I wouldn't know which one to choose. I expected more from JBL tbh

Noticeable lag in touch screen. That can be dangerous to a driver operating. The GUI looked cheap and no Sirius XM Ready? For something that took 2 years to launch you would think it perform better. I feel your rating is very off on this one.

I can’t say it applies here, but with the Kenwood head units over the past couple of years- DMX709 and the DDX57 the Bluetooth mic creates an echo for the person you’re talking to 9/10 times.

I just bought the newly released DMX50s and the built in mic on the face of the unit works great.

No echo, no issues, no complaints from the wife when she calls now 😂

To call something a legend is pretty big shoes to fill. So much junk out there now lets hope or is it another boss clone.

Wish these would come with hdmi inputs.

JBL makes some very nice audio equipment..I own 2 of there JBL club A1000.1 monoblocks, had them for a few years and love them very solid like tanks!

That head unit looks like garbage lol what a poor effort it got all the markings of a cheap no name unit

I'm guessing this will fare as well as the MS8 and MS amplifiers. It's a shame what JBL has become.

double din radios like this are cool. but after trying out vehicle specific android head units, its hard to go back.

They look factory, and usually plug right into the factory wiring harness.

Is the Apple car menus slow as well or just the jbl radio menus?

Does this JBL Legend 700 unit have iDataLink Maestro compatibility?

Does this have Harman acoustic echo cancelation and background noise suppression for phone calls? The Chinese android units I have tried and currently own sound horrible on phone calls. I have found that nothing sounds better to far side of a call than the speakerphone of my Galaxy S23 Ultra. Harman phone processing is one of the main reasons Samsung purchased Harman. Hopefully this does phone calls far better than the rest.

is the USB 5v to allow charging?

I bought an off brand headunit for $60 on amazon that has all of this plus a volume knob and a charging port on the front. Sounds great and now I have wireless carplay.

JBL is not really new to the world of HU. They have made HU in the past for some auto manufacturers. Although, this is the first time I've seen consumer grade HU.

How would I connect the power wheel volume if the radio doesn’t have an input for it, any suggestions
