LANSIA. lol
Ответитьwhen i was a kid in the early 80s, my dad bought me a toy version. ive been a fanatic ever since. where i grew up, in new york, the only rally car we knew of was the general lee dodge charger. we didnt think the lancia stratos was a real car, due to its radical design. sadly, i only got to play with that toy once, due to getting it wedged under an industrial washing machine. ive bedn obsessed with the stratos since that day.
ОтветитьTack!
Ответить"Lan" as in Lancaster, "cha" as in... Cha cha cha.
ОтветитьWe saw the prototype at the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles. It is out of this world, as in an alien in the automotive industry. It reminded me a little of the Maserati Boomerang with its steering wheel design. Imagine what that car could have done with a Maserati V8!
ОтветитьThank you. I have a real weakness for Lancia, even in their “quirkiest” moments. I’m an American now living in Italy, and though Ferrari is their car, I tell them I love Lancia more, and the Stratos is my absolute favorite car ever made.
ОтветитьI’d definitely buy the Fenomenon. It’s a shame they didn’t bring it into production. They’d need to address the interior space tho. I’m 6’4” & unfortunately, I don’t fit in the original Stratos ☹️
ОтветитьCouple of things, it was 400 cars for homologation to Group 4, not 500, and there was never any concrete evidence that Lancia actually made that many.
The story goes that on the day the FISA were due to inspect them for approval, the building they were being stored in collapsed destroying a 'significant number of them'. FISA approved them without ever seeing them.
What the fiero wishes it was.
ОтветитьOMG, some hilariously terrible Italian name spellings here from Lancia to Enzo Ferrari! 😂
ОтветитьGreat story. But too short. Just like the Stratos.
A normal human being would reverse one at high speed directly to the scene of the crash, at the first available opportunity! :P
Just like the Countach; best never to actually encounter your hero!
And just why didn't more production cars have such awesome body designs? WHERE ARE ALL THE CARS OF THE FUTURE FOR THE MASSES? Wtf Toyota Carolla?
ОтветитьThe car at 36 seconds in is handy for escaping your 30th birthday death nell with your buddy Logan. Does that thing have a working door or does the entire body pivot to 90 degrees so you can get in and out?
ОтветитьWhat a great Bertone design, short wheel base quick corner speed, adjustable suspension, great access to the engine area,(unlike Porsche) one of the greats in auto history.
ОтветитьLoved this car since my dad brought me back a model from the '79 Lombard RAC Rally
ОтветитьOMG , How much do i love this car.!!
ОтветитьI always thought that the Stratos had engines of ABARTH. Acquired by FIAT in 1972.
ОтветитьGood video but why are you just reading the wikipedia page out loud?
ОтветитьI bet Christian von Koenigsegg was in love with this design as many of his generation was. Check out the windows.
Ответитьhello, you cant even pronouce lancia right. it is read "Lan-chia"
ОтветитьVery exotic car. Absolutely disgustingly filthy expensive these days. I'd nickname it the nasty little sporty Ferarri that Ferarri never made. A roaring little beautiful monster indeed 😘
Ответитьbro just read the wikipedia page to us 💀
ОтветитьZero inspired by Chaparral 2H ?
ОтветитьLancia stratos was a spring board for the lancia delta
ОтветитьSorry, mate, this car needs an hour long video, at least...50 years next year, and it's still so fresh!!!
ОтветитьThe Sibilo has the Ferrari Scuderia works tuned V6 240hp engine with (SC) Lancia Squardra Corse and stratos chassis ex Lancia Rally team. Chassis No S12201. So the Sibilo has a rally winning chassis as well as a one off concept car.
ОтветитьGreat video as always, don't forget the chief engineer Nicola Materazzi who was responsible for the mechanical aspect. He later went on to do the EB110 and F40. He passed away just a couple of months ago.
ОтветитьAitch not haitch!
ОтветитьBrutal car Lancia Stratos for egoists) I like it this Legend)
ОтветитьLove a lot of Gandini's work and the Stratos remains my favorite. They are so tiny in person it feels like you could tuck it under your arm and walk off with it.
ОтветитьAka Wheeljack
ОтветитьRally doesn't have a need rear visibility, it's a purpose build car. Also they were centuries ahead of car design, no car released now has rear visibility. The number one ofender is Tesla and hyundai. They look silly with a tiny and short on the rear window, Just like 350z with the tiny car window. People driving newer cars look like they have no bodies. Horrible looking cars with bad window proportions
ОтветитьAny car that has door bins to take a helmet is good to me.
ОтветитьWhere are such beautiful cars today???? Just thousands of driving faceless fridges, called SUV...while only the "V" is correct.
Ответитьストレートで速いってぇのよりコーナリングマシンが楽しい。その点では一番のスーパーカーだね。
ってかまっすぐ走らないが(www
What is the front curve of the car called? What other cars have that?
ОтветитьFreaking beast!
ОтветитьStratos can't run straight.
ОтветитьI remember seeing this car for the first time in an anime when I was like 8 y/o. Maybe it was eX Drivers.
Ответитьnot 131 AbarthA, it's 131 [ˈaːbart] (hard t no a)
ОтветитьThe Lancia Stratos won the 1975 Circuit of Ireland Rally driven by Cahal Curley.
ОтветитьI would like to see someone take this amazing design from 70s and put a Tesla motor on it, is ideal for a electric sports car
ОтветитьAnother fun fact: while the Stratos was extremely successful in rallying, Lancia dealers had a hard time selling the street legal version. In the end, some Stratos went for as little as 15.000 DM (around 1980), and even that discount hadn't created a real run on this rallying tool barely tamed for the road.
Guess we need more crystal balls, because who had thought that the Stratos would become one of the most sought vehicles achieving prices of more than 200.000€ today?
Please pronounce Lancia correctly 😑
Ответитьla lancia stratos :une icone des rallyes !
Ответить@bigcar
Looking at the great Italian content you study it's time for a first lesson on how to pronounce correctly some names:
Lesson 1:
Car designer Bertone
Bertone not Bertoni
Ber - tone, like the food Calzone or the famous Vito Corleone, or the ubiquitous Drone.
As in Italian and Latin languages the letter E sounds more like the letter A in chaotic.
Ber to ne
Ciao e grazie per i video!
