I did my CS degree with a Thinkpad T420. I'd like to point out that some older machines limit the amount of RAM you can install. So it might be better to get a slightly newer machine and add more RAM later on.

My laptop always freeze out when I turn on my virtual machine, I use Toshiba satellite that run dual core with 1.7 speed, ram 6gb, so I can't do my pentesting

This is not 100% true. I recently was self learning python and all the tutorials reference (for instance), pycharm - which recommends 8gb of ram. Now when trying to learn text sources on a slow machine - is not conclusive to learning.

Please help me, I am confused between Legion 9i and M3 Pro Max 36 GB 1TB varaint. I have no problem regarding the price, and both the OS are ok for me.

I use arch linux with i3-wm as a primary os, and trust me It's work amazing on my 4GB RAM desktop, it only use 250-300MB ram and look far better than windows, because i can customize it as i want, all you need is to just have a decent machine to Start, if you don't have money to build an desktop or buy an laptop, you can go for mini Computer, it works fine. But remember one thing as you progress you need a good machine atleast 6-8 cores machine with 16GB of RAM, but for starting, dual core with 4GB RAM is sufficient. All the best future hackers 💯

The only thing I would advise is DO NOT GET Apple Silicon Macbooks (M1, M2, M3) because those run on arm64 and not amd64 so you will have a LOT of compatibility issues and it's a headache trust me I made that mistake and I regret it so bad

To be honest, yes, any laptop will be good. However, especially if you're going to be wanting to run virtual machines, you will want a computer with decent CPU power to split between the current and virtual machines. That's my only big tip for everyone

Thinkpad was nice. Broke mine, the new ones are expensive. Business class does seem good for hacking, gaming ones are more proper fit somehow, it rounds up at the processing power in the end.

The best hacking laptop in 2023 is an old one that you can fix. I have a dell from 2011 and a $50 Chromebook that I flashed Manjaro on and threw an m.2 SATA drive in.
