ОтветитьThe cozy games boom reminds me a lot of the World of Warcraft boom. Companies saw that everyone was playing WoW, so they developed their own MMORPG to get a piece of the pie... Then no one bought them, because they already had World of Warcraft at home.
ОтветитьA simple cozy game I've really enjoyed is Calico! It's a game where you run around gathering pets for your cat cafe (or any animal cafe really) and you design your cafe and stuff. There's little quests from the villagers too. It's a short game (about 10 hours) but there's cooking mini games, fun design tools, and a cute world to explore/collect in! I recommend if you want something cute and fun, but not overly time consuming.
ОтветитьTerraria is my favorite cozy game! ^v^
ОтветитьThere are some games which technically aren't cozy games, but a lot of people treat as one. Minecraft, for instance. I know a lot of people who just build small houses, farm, take care of animals, and expand villages slowly. That's all they do, and the game doesn't judge them for it.
ОтветитьTo me, Rimworld is a pretty fun and cozy game, especially with a few mods to extend the time spent in a playthrough. Nice music, combat isn't too stressful, adjustable difficulty and charming artstyle.
ОтветитьThe Island Sanctuary call out thoughhhh
ОтветитьWhat are cozy games exactly cause in my definition Dragon Quest 11 or even Persona 5 is consider cozy for me. A lot of JRPGs are like that cause they are usually more light hearted or have visuals that make it more cozier.
ОтветитьSlime Rancher is probably my favorite cozy game ever. It had the familiarity that comes with ranching while giving goals out like working the economy, exploring, technology, etc.
ОтветитьI think another component is that a lot of cozy games seem to be aimed specifically at girls and therefore incorporate what they think girls would like in a game (vs. what we actually enjoy). I'm old enough to remember and have lived through the "girl games" era in the 2000s and a lot of those games suffered from the same thing as the new wave of "cozy games". Very shallow gameplay/story and really only trying to make money.
Ответитьi actually get a lot of enjoyment out of games that play themselves — it's kind of like a digital-only version of kinetic sculpture
Ответить"Cozy games often rely on nostalgia". Yes, because relaxing depends on predictability. Nostalgia is one form of a predictive sensory experience
ОтветитьSo your point is that "cozy" games are not good because there is no actual goals and they also don't work well as creative explorations? 😲
ОтветитьThe problem with female gamers is you can't punch them like you would a male gamer. Sad?
ОтветитьWhy is a female talking about the victimized class known as gamers? You know nothing. Opinion rejected. (Females like cozy games, that's why they suck. They are female-oriented or non-gamer oriented)
Ответитьmy favorite "cozy" game is still Slime Rancher, dont really have much to say other than that but wanted to share it
ОтветитьThe fact I forgot that cozy games weren't just farm sims until I remembered cult of the lamb says a lot about current game markets
ОтветитьLoved this video! Glad to see other ladies interested in video essays 😁
ОтветитьDoes Paleo Pines fall under this category ?
ОтветитьHEY...!
Skyirm doesn't suck... >:(
i used to play sky children of the light which is kinda a cozy social game and it was honestly really good (and still is), the community is sweet, the visuals are good and its pretty relaxing overall but then again if u want to get some limited item u have to farm every single day for sometimes HOURS depending on how fast u farm and its painful like i love it but gah damn i get burnt out after 2 weeks everytime i start playing again.
but i mean the developers kind of managed to reduce the amount of farming so thats good :D
New Horizons absolutely failed at villager interaction. In older games it was a treat to talk to them, they had SO MUCH DIALOGUE-- but New Horizons you hear the same damn lines over and over again. It makes them all FEEL so fake. So while I can get into the decorating aspect of the game, animal villagers merely feel like props and then the fun of the game just runs out as you hear the same line for like the 50th time from various villagers of the same personality type. God help me, they didn't need to make every single villager unique but-- they had dialogue from older games... I would have rather they at least padded out the game's dialogue with old content than leave it so bare bones like that.
Ответитьthe phrase "cozy games" makes me wanna die like the community is so weird to me
ОтветитьI've been playing a few mobile games to figure out what I want and I ran into Cooking Diary. It won the People's Choice Award in the International Mobile Game Awards and it's honestly earned it. Aside from drip feeding rewards (like every other mobile game), I genuinely find it to be a fun experience. It also gives me nostalgia for early PC games like Diner Dash, that are family-friendly but also challenging. (But I also genuinely like the story and characters).
ОтветитьUNPACKING
A+ cozy game. BEAUTIFUL story. semi puzzle.
i hate disney
ОтветитьThis is why Minecraft is the perfect game, it's only as cozy as you want it to be. You can farm, or you can breed animals for food. You can completely avoid enemies of you don't want the extra challenge and just focus on acquiring materials to build, or you can simply play on easy to still have access to the end without making the trip too difficult. It's pretty amazing just how perfect Minecraft has always been
ОтветитьFantasy Life is the best cozy game ever IMO. The amount of progression and stuff to do in that game is amazing, and it's so charming it hurts.
ОтветитьDark Souls is a 10/10 cozy game
Ответитьinteresting vod , thanks for da content , did U ever tried the game bunburrows paquerettes ? it sounds like a good cosy reflexion puzzle game imo.
ОтветитьHighly recommend Moonstone Island (half cozy, half card battler). It's still quite new and has plenty of room too expand, but I played through the main story in 70 hours and had a blast. Fully plan to go back to it as more gets added!
ОтветитьWhy even bother making a video about a game niche you are bored with? There are always certain trends in any game genre and as fast as they come, they just go away just as quick.
ОтветитьMy favorite cozy game ever was Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Also made just by one dude!
I never thought of this game being "cozy" but ABZÛ is a beautiful, (spiritual, even) underwater adventure where you explore, interact with fish, sharks and other marine life, and meditate. (Bonus: no farming!) You can collect a few things, and solve simple puzzles, but it's simply a breathtaking world to observe and be a part of, with minimal risk and a subtle plot. There are some dark themes, and mystery to it as well. The game isn't long, I beat it in a few hours, but you can take your time with it. Don't rush through any stage until you're ready to leave the area, just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
ОтветитьI loved Crayon Physics Deluxe back in the game, definitely cozy but not always easy.
ОтветитьRune Factory is the most cozy non-cozy game series I know of. While the outworld exploration is very old-school top down action RPG kind of gameplay, the farming and character interactions are, if not on par, more lively than Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, which is odd considering they're made by the same producer (Yoshifumi Hashimoto).
While the latest entry, RF 5, hasn't been the 'best' to say the least, RF 4 and RF Frontier have some of my favorite villages/towns in gaming. You get a really good feel for the characters, their relationships, their schedules and whatnot.
And while being an action RPG + farming sim hybrid, the farm stuff does affect your combat power progression. When the crop is ready you can get a free stamina refill and you can strategically plant reharvstable vegetables in dungeons to get the most of it, you can cook powerful dishes with your crops, fish or dairy ingredients that gives you a bunch of different buffs beyond restoring HP, the monsters you tame can help you take care of your farm or accompany you in combat. In some of the games, you can even take out the villagers to help you out, and you can give them the equipment you craft so they become stronger.
There really is a lot to these games and I wish the latest game was better so I could recommend it instead of the older ones. There are remasters to 3 and 4 tho. But I'm betting my hopes on the two games coming along, RF 6 and Project Dragon, which is a spin-off.
I get what you are saying about Harvestella, but i thought it was pretty good. Also, Coral Island is really good
Ответитьi just want a game with a nice story, and lots of dialogue to interact with characters, i recently got a switch so ill take recommendations <3
ОтветитьFor the billions Animal Crossing has made nintendo, a few minigames to play with your villagers and friends doesn't sound like too much to ask for.
Ответитьi really felt the square enix call out in my soul. Played 2 hours of that game and realized it was just a bad jrpg with farming in it...
ОтветитьListen fellas. :(
I need a list of the games in the background, pls. :)
I couldn't recommend Chicory: A Colorful Tale more, it is made by the devs of Celeste and it is such a cozy game that actually delves pretty deep in the character's emotions, it doesn't shy from looking at deep topics but it has a really relaxing and cute gameplay loop, it is definitely not for anyone though...
ОтветитьSorry, bad take on the Pokémon one, it’s a good thing that you can choose to battle or not battle random trainers actually. I’ve been playing Pokémon since I was six and have always wanted the option to skip battles against unimportant npcs. You can still battle them if you want, but don’t enforce wanting to have to battle them onto everyone else. Pokémon really like, doesn’t belong here. It’s been adding qol stuff like this for years, it’s not trying to be a cozy game or whatever, its just… a kids game.
Other than that, yeah there has been a huge problem with copying animal crossing and stardew just because they sold well, without understanding that their uniqueness is how they sold well.
the thing is i love cozy games' atmospheres but they're always farming games or stuff of that type, like GOD can we please get something else! like a short hike or sticky business!
Ответитьanimal crossing is a boring game for dumb women
ОтветитьA Short Hike is the best cozy game ive ever played!! Its about climbing a mountain and meeting cute characters (its super short too). Makes you leave feeling satisfied and accomplished
ОтветитьIm an indie dev and ive heard the same about cozy games. “no more farming”, ill be more than happy to hear what you would want in a cozy game
ОтветитьI want a cozy game with a veteran knight just going around town doing menial tasks.
ОтветитьWhat does DLC stand for? I'm not familiar with the gaming lingo.
Ответить
