Kia Niro VESS - USA vs Europe Comparison

It seems for the 2023 Niro EV they use the EU version in the US now. And now that I’ve seen this video, I’m no longer confused about the complaints of loud backup noise.

Jesus I'm so sad for every niro owner that's above 2019.

I used an apple pi and changed mine to an angry new yorker (my cousin recorded) yelling out "hey, i'm driving here. if ya can hear my voice and you still get run over its your own damn fault. Where yall from that you stand behind a moving car?!?! florida?!?!" and it repeats. people think its funny lol

The US version reminds me of windows 10 sounds and how loud they were, but the EU version (which became international) sounds like windows 11 due to the sounds being muffled.

What's the difference of US and EU? is it just difference of speaker? I'm Korean and driving 2012 K5(Optima) hybrid in my country, and keep considering if I can get Reverse Beep by modifing my VESS.

I finally got so fed up with my U.S. backup volume VESS that I went ahead and unplugged it. The process took about 20 minutes and now it's wonderfully silent! I got nervous when attempting to put the front end back on as it shifted during the process and was not aligning properly. Eventually it all snapped in properly. Wish KIA would allow a software update through to adjust the volume level. Oh well.

I'm guessing mine never got fixed or was disconnected since it'd been in two front-end collisions before I got to it...

So if an EU VESS speaker is swapped onto a US car, does it make the EU sounds, or is there some software in the car that controls which sound it makes?

So I just bought a used 2019 Niro EV, the US version, and the VESS seems pretty quiet. It sounds like the EU one. I wonder if the previous owner already made a change to it. (I'm not complaining!)

The U.S version is more loud because we are more stupid.

Change the reverse beeping to spongbob yelling "backing up". xD

Can you cut a wire at the plug to disable backup but not angelic sound?

Was considering picking up a 2019 to 2021 Niro EV in the next year or so, any tips on how to get an EU spec VESS? One the major contention points I had when test driving one a few weeks ago was how loud the reverse beep was but at the same time if/when I do get a Niro EV I would prefer to swap it than fully disable it
