This is very useful. I have answered such questions using the same approach but did not make the results stand out as you did. I am sure I will apply this in my next interview

This guy seems uncomfortable and awkward. His voice pitching constantly changing from so soft I can barely understand what he's saying to all the sudden he's louder and speaking more clearly. He changes the speed of which he talks in each sentence, slowly talking then really fast, then slow again, all in a sentence. Don't get me wrong, definitely change tones but holy crap dude. The weird short pauses between every word followed by a hard emphasis of it. Him constantly moving his hands every new sentence to the same position then dropping them quickly is distracting. Yeah, this is a no for me but you got the view thanks to my college course! This was painful though.

Hello and thank you for these videos. My question is how do you prepare for the SHARE method interview. SHARE: Situation, Hindrances, Action, Results, and Evaluate. It seems similar to the STAR method but what are your thoughts on the SHARE method. Thank you

Your job is to make the person that hired you look good to their boss - Or if they have been around for 20+ years, your job is to make their job easier - that’s the trick. Make them look good and make their job easier - thats YOUR job. Boot licker, brown nose, etc. those are stupid titles - Call it whatever you want, but if you are not making their life easier or more profitable, they don’t need you - you become a liability.

Yes behaviour interviews should stop. It was a psychotherapy perspective used in the 70ies that went away so quickly, and replaced by cognitive therapy. The point of this perspective was to address issues by simply removing the problematic object. Ex. If a kid is scared of a monster under his bed, the solution was the behaviour of removing the bed legs. Not to address the fear. Gladly the approach is no longer practiced, it has no depth and contexte. But job interviewers still like to use it because they feel a sense of superiority when a candidate straggles to tell a story. And it unable them to have prepared questions and no implications in the conversation process.
These questions are hard to answer because they usually don’t provide enough contexte. That is why it’s difficult to recall a situation.

Hi, I had an interview for high profile job in MNC, they asked me strength, weakness, beyond expected work, team collaborative attitude and conflict management. I answered all with good stories but the last question was blunder as dint knew meaning of it. Question was " How did you apply a pragmatic approach to your projects in order to achieve the desired outcome without creating cumbersome work? I dint understand question and gave some loosened examples. I was rejected with feedback that out of 27 applicant, i was strongest in technical round but behavioural test round others performed slightly better than me. Its painful. Can u help me with the last answer.

I had three interviews while trying to get a job at a world class computer manufacturer, let me say "the" world class computer and cell phone manufacturer so I am sure everyone knows what company I am talking about. The interviews were like sitting through psychological tests with Dr Mengala , lol and The interview questions were all psychological and very nerve wracking none the less I progressed though two of them and when it came to the third interview I asked if they were going to make a decision on that particular interview about my candidacy , I didn't say this but I was tired of bullshiting around for prospect of a 35 k annual salary, not to mention my gas and my time and frankly my mental stress level . Well you guessed it that night I was sent the obligatory email about how I while having great talents and instincts was not a good fit for xyz computers . There was a gentlemen working at the store on the sales floor wearing a kilt mind you, but me I'm not the right fit for them. The way I look at it , they did me a favor. They didn't want someone who was serious about the job who could get work done . The wanted kooky little sheep that fit into their little corporate meat grinder.

These interview questions are a way of weeding out people that the interviewer does't like without him or her saying that it's personal, I can guarantee you that these questions aren't being used on some of these brain dead turkeys I've seen working at some of these companies .Their attitudes and ability to string together coherent sentences tell me that truth. I mean seriously these questions can't be applied to everyone, I firmly believe that when some people come in they are much more forgiving and basically give the job out for a tax break or something. I'm a bright guy and I can bullshit my way around these types of questions to a degree, but if you keep asking me to be more specific and how did the result change my behavior etc, etc you have to wonder if you want to work at corporate robotron zombie maker. Most of the time I will answer in a generic way where I won't be very specific about a time or situation . If they ask me to be more specific , typically I will talk about how the teamwork propelled the situation forward to a positive result.

I agree with everyone in the comments, the biggest liar will make it. And it shows, when ever I come across with someone in the field they are the most horrid and sad people, yet they got the job instead of us, hard working and dedicated people.

To all those commenting their mind goes blank: what you're missing is the other side of the coin. Try this mental exercise: imagine trying to grow a business, build a group, hire some blokes. YOU must sift through bullshitters, find the good ones. Talk about risky. Would you want to take a shot on the guy who says "Man I'm just a horrible interviewee, take my word for it I'm great"? If you fail you're stuck with a bad one who might sue you when you finally try to get rid of him.

It comes down to this - one must develop a new skill: conceiving and verbalizing how your experience and skills will help overcome some challenge presented in the interview, all under pressure. I mean if there was ever a microcosm of what "work" is, the interview is it, right? So study the job, the company, your experience, yourself, and prepare for the conversation. The idea of a corporation ("embodiment") is about common goals and ideas, and mapping their problems onto your skills should be done beforehand - so the blank mind is a temporary issue only.

Finally - go find Martin Yate's "Knock 'Em Dead" series of books and articles and get jazzed for your next job!

These questions tend to be really hard to answer when you have low self-esteem because each of them is basically "tell me how amazing you were at situation X"
