Xbox Series S Review After 3 Years - Everyone is WRONG...

My problem I found Nintendo OLED and Xbox series s with the same price and I'm not sure what I should buy😅I scare if I buy the wrong one I will regret later

I just bought myself a 75" 4K TV, and felt like giving gaming on the couch a go after a decade of being on the PC. I enjoy playing laid back story driven games while lounging and the Series S is perfect for that. Not to mention one of the best values in Gaming when bundeled with GamePass.

I magaed to pick one up second hand with 2 controllers for 150 euros a few weeks after it came out. I really like the thing, especially since I've been playing the original Xbox One since it came out, quite an upgrade. I was shocked when I started up Ark, I remember being very impressed by the lighting fx when lighting a fire in the forrest at night. Only thing I don't like is that I can't play my 360 collection, maybe I'll pick up an X cheaply somewhere, we'll see.

Finally video that I can relate too. I have a 1 year old and he is all over the place and me gaming on pc just had my hands all tied up. But now on the console I can pause and come back. Looking to upgrade to the series s 1tb.

I got mine in order to play Xbox 360 era games that were never ported from ps3 to ps4 and I can’t play them through backwards compatibility on Sony’s console. Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic 06 and the Sonic Adventure ports, Alice Madness Returns, Dante’s Inferno, etc.

Had it for over 2 years. No regrets. Not gonna get a series x.

I recently picked one up and am in my late 20s as a grad student. Budget friendly and a fun way to relax after a long day. Especially when you're rocking a free old 1080 TV without apps

I blame ssds for all our future problems. Our bathroom visits were cut in half and the risk of kidney stones greatly improved. These quick loading times made it impossible to do those quick runs of relief.

I'm a father also and a console is a very good choice. The reason is there is no troubleshooting or graphics adjustment or driver issues or nothing to worry , plug , download, play

I’ve had the Series S for two years now and finally got an X at Christmas. I can say first hand the S boots up faster than the X but it makes sense the more powerful machine will take a second. I never considered how portable it is now that’s it not my primary console. With the internal power source it’s just a small box and a controller you have to carry

I have an 2560x1440 lg ultragear monitor. Would an xbox Series S be great for that?

I'm a 69 yrs old male, and I'm retired. I spend quite a lot of time on my XBox 1S. I have a Gaming PC with Flight Sims, Battle Sims etc. !!! I want to get an X Box Series X. I have a 2 TByte built in Hard Drive and an External Seagate 8 TByte Ext Hard Drive. I have 275 games on it. Most of the Internal Hard Drive is Empty and also 1 TByte is free on the External One !!! I always use an Ethernet Cable and I never have any Game Crashes !!! The X Box I S is a lovely machine which is about 8 yrs old. I want to retire it and use it as a Standby now because it has had tens of thousands of hours use and has never gone Wrong !!! Most Console faults seem to be caused by people spilling drinks into the Fan Vent !!!

I have had my series s for maybe I would say couple of years now and I'm regretting getting it more and more everyday, Yes the graphics are beautiful and it runs like a dream and it was a great upgrade from my original "vcr" Xbox One (Even though I told myself I'd go full pc after retiring my Xbox One), and I love taking my series s anywhere I can, I'm taking advantage of its size by it being kind of portable too, but that's where it ends The 512 GB isn't enough considering the fact that most games are now over 100 gigs and you have to use Microsofts BS expansion card to play from external storage, it's annoying having to transfer games to the internal SSD if I want to play them and then I have to transfer them back to the external SSD because I want to play another game and there's not enough storage on the internal SSD, so the series s is great but it also has its downfalls It has enough that I'm actually considering switching to a PS5 and just leaving all my Xbox games to my PC.

I'm just looking for a budget upgrade to my PS4 slim

As a college student i found myself at the same position "I would either have all the gaming or nothing at all." I haven't played any video game for 3 months and I am considering buying an xbox series S. Due to Turkey's economic condition it's not so easy to buy a computer that will allow me to play AAA games on good graphics and I am staying at a dormitary which worries me about the space problem at my room. this gave me the idea of buying an xbox. What do you recommend?

Glad I'm not the only one who went through a period of not gaming. I have always been an avid gamer, but around 2012ish I stopped. Several things happened, I was in college, worked, got married, and then had kids. But about 3 years ago, I got back into gaming after finally settling down and was able to better manage down time to fit in gaming. Now I have an Xbox Series X and PS5 and game every day. Between a full-time job, wife, and 2 kids, I get about 20 hours a week. Definitely not a ton like I was used to, but I'm happy to be able to game again. It was weird at first because I basically missed the whole last generation. So, I didn't game for nearly 7 years. Going from a ps3 and 360 to these current gens is like night and day for me. Plus, Game Pass has helped me catch up, and since the PS5 is backward compatible, I'm able to play last generation games I missed out on from Sony. I'm so happy to be gaming again!

I wouldn't say consoles got better, as this thing is literally just a One X on adderall.

I'm Currently saving up and looking deals (the 512gb model often drops to 200-250€). I never thought I would prefer Xbox over Playstation since I grew up with PS. I just want something small that can play all or most current games, i don't care about 4k etc etc. I want to get a gaming pc eventually but for the price this will suffice me for 2 years at least.

I just traded my Xbox series X for the Xbox series S Here my reasons why

Number 1. All I play is 2K Madden call of duty those games on Xbox series S as a Xs logo so I’m playing the next generation version upscale 4k with Dolby Vision that’s more than enough

2. I noticed I wasn’t really playing new games on the consul because most of the exclusives from Microsoft I already beat on the Xbox one X multiple times I noticed most of the games I was playing was 360 backwards, compatible Games

3. Xbox series x is ugly system I like digital Games Better I hate going to GameStop. I hate the preowned stickers on the cases. I hate asking somebody for a ride to go to the store. I hate waiting three or four days just to play a game. I’d rather buy digitally and play it immediately. It’s more convenient for me. Just my thoughts 💯 I’m lazy I Hate changing disc 💿 lot of people Have Xbox series x & they playing Free to plays on it 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I've had mine for over 4 years and works good as day one ..my original controller dosent zero..but still usable

I have a powerful gaming PC and a series X. But people criticizing Microsoft because of the Series S... just stop. Microsoft gave a cheap alternative for gamers to get a quality video game console to play games. Of course the series S is less powerful than the PS5 and series X but who cares it runs the games ND you can also stream them.

this machine is really gd but new games(many)arnt getting Performance Mode and this New Gen Machines are meant for this at least! so it is worrying if this 30fps will be the standard on XSS

It seems you are the target audience that the Series S was specifically made for and that's totally cool, you knew what you were getting into and were fine with that.

The problem I and so many others have with the Series S is that Microsoft literally lied about what this thing was, just to be able to sell it at all. It was said time and time again that the Series S would be identical to the Series X with the sole exception of resolution, only being able to reach 1440p instead of 4k, but that otherwise no difference between the two. That's obviously not the case, developers have been having a nightmare trying to work with this thing, from Larian studios with Baldurs Gate 3 to Remedy with Alan Wake 2. And it wouldn't be so bad except for Microsoft and their console parity rule, meaning any games that are on the Series X must be able to run, function, and have all the same features that the Series S does.

This means that the Series X being a better, more powerful console literally means nothing! If it can't happen on the Series S then it can't happen on the Series X either. So if you're developing an Xbox game you're basically developing for the Series S. This is why games are looking, running, and featuring so much more on PC and PS5 by comparison and it's sad for most people who purchased a Series S because they were basically lied to about this.

Thankfully though it seems like you knew exactly what you were getting when you got it and it seems to perfect for someone in your position as a new parent (congrats on that btw 😊). So in this case it's perfectly fine but for most Series S owners they were basically scammed.

I have the same opinion for the steam deck, the portability and being able to put into standby mode really make gaming as a parent so much easier.

Series S is a waste of money, you have to pay top money for a digital game from the Xbox store when you can get it for a quater of the price physically, an underpowered ripoff
