This is practically helpful and fun video for mixing the kit. Thank you so much. :)
ОтветитьI'm wit dis - The only thing for me is that I have had ZERO success with compression anywhere NEAR anything metallic, ie. Cymbals... I avoid compression wherever possible, and haven't found the need to use any on drums, yet, but what do I know really...
ОтветитьA BUS is the same as grouping tracks in ableton right?
ОтветитьCan somebody please tell me what the fat channel is in the drums?
ОтветитьThank You
ОтветитьThank You for this awesome video!!
ОтветитьAppreciate this video
ОтветитьWhere was this video 4 years ago. The thing that changed it for me was learning to start with the over head mics.
ОтветитьSaved your soul for god AMEN🙏❤️
ОтветитьAnd never forget checking the fase!!!!
ОтветитьI am preparing to mix my first live drums so I looked up this older video. I already had steps one and two complete!!! I am ready to dive in!! Thanks Joe!!
ОтветитьWat about pan ning in drum mix
ОтветитьMan This HELPED ME!
ОтветитьThank you for such a wonderful and effective lesson! I gave these steps a whirl, and I got a really nice sounding natural drum sound. I realized how much unnecessary tweaking I was doing (I had fun at it still:)) before, but hey, we learn and improve all the time.
Good one!!
That was one of the most effective uses of EQ I’ve ever seen on the snare ring. You did that perfectly.
Ответитьnice good mentor
ОтветитьI’m in the early stages of getting ready to record my own solo album and tackling the entire thing myself, can confirm that I was literally soloing and EQing/compressing/saturating individual tracks and going “this sure is going to take a while 😅”; thank you for giving n00bs a solid starting point and a healthier approach to drum tracks!
ОтветитьWow…. It’s so cool. Kudos bro
ОтветитьIs that the PreSonus 32? Still using it?
ОтветитьThanks for the great video
ОтветитьYou Minas well make a video called “ how to do open heart surgery in 5 easy steps “ lol
Good video, this is a great place to start if you’re new to mixing drums
Thanks a lot for this video, really boosted my sound with that 400hz frequency tip. Subbed!
Ответитьthanks
Ответитьwhat DAW is being used ?
I do not recognize it.
Extra useful! Subscribed!
ОтветитьGreat! Thanks! 😊
ОтветитьVery helpful! You forgot to say that recordings must be good in the first place, like this one, otherwise you are forced to comp/EQ them individually as a first step!!
ОтветитьAwesome. Thank you Joe!
Ответитьmaaah ... Only way is the old way , one at the time..
ОтветитьThanks Joe! Very useful tutorial.
ОтветитьGood man Joe, very helpful
ОтветитьThis is good stuff ,sounds like its based on real experience and its simple.
ОтветитьI did the same what you said....
The drums are killer now
its funny when my old videos sound terrible and thats because I thought you had to use plugins non stop, listen to my latest videos and only plugins i use are eq on the seperate tracks and then eq and compression on the buss, sounds so much better....he is right less is more....
ОтветитьHave an album I'm working on using eight microphone setup for a maypac Venus drum kit that was recorded in less than stellar conditions. One track alone took me 30 hours just to get it listenable. I'm either going to laugh or cry when I mix this baby again in 30 minutes.
ОтветитьBeware of idiots who advise you to boost high frequencies, especially vst instruments that already have a lot of them. You will damage your hearing in headphones.
ОтветитьI agree with M about checking phase first but I think this is a great video and helped tremendously. I managed to get a great kit sound with just a bit of eq on kick and snare and a bit of reverb and buss compression!! Helps to have a good drummer that can tune the kit.
ОтветитьPerfect , you may not know this but this tip is great especially for live online mixing where time is scarce and pressure and mistakes are aplenty .😊
ОтветитьThanks a lot Joe ! Your videos are really really great ! Cheers from France !
ОтветитьHelp me with which app or the program name you use for mixing
ОтветитьHey Joe!!Glad I decided to check this out today man, took a little break from working on a project to review my overall approach to the drum bus before getting into it and found that coincidentally what you were focusing in on as far as treating all the individual kit components as part of an "integrated whole"(something that when you get into one-shots/samples etc rather than working with live drum mics tracks is easy to forget about) is something I just started thinking more in terms of myself..as always great video, much thanks again!!
ОтветитьThank you! The concept of starting with the bus before tweaking individual mics is SO helpful unto itself.
Ответитьi prefer r63k on kick live
Ответитьwell try and practice this, thank you
Ответитьte amo
ОтветитьSo nice video thnx
Ответитьthis is just so great. thanks so much
ОтветитьThis is pure magic! Thanks! Made a huge difference!
