We need a CONSORTIUM of companies like Tatas, L&T, Mahindra etc because this is beyond the capability of any single company.
The consortium model is followed in the USA and the EU and they're capable of manufacturing advanced aircraft, engines and technologically advanced defence equipment.
The consortium gets Govt backing and money to facilitate the process.
No matter what the cost we have to become self reliant or keep facing blackmail from the US, France etc.
