If I was an actress doing an emotional scene and I was having trouble channeling, I would pull up this video, watch the part withShannon Stevens ( sorry if her name is spelled wrong) and watch that part. Every time I see this video, the last part w her is so touching I end up teary eyed. She seems like such a great amazing person, someone I would Love to have as a friend.

So wild how back in 2015 a black person saying "We don't see color" is seen as heroic, which I agree with. Now in 2023, anyone who would even utter those words would be canceled in a heartbeat. I don't see how, in this context, not seeing color is a bad thing. How will we ever unite as a country or humans in general if we stick to the divisive language we use now? I think the last lady has EXACTLY the right idea when it comes to humans. "We are sisters" was so awesome to watch her say that.

First time I saw the video I didn't understand why the black woman was against the white woman's choice of style and i applauded the people speaking out.
Now years later and much more learned about racism, I understand where she's coming from much better.
White people need to educate themselves and when someone says something is hurtful, listen, consider, instead of defending yourself with having 'only good intentions'. The girl is obviously not meaning any harm, but nonetheless your choices can be hurtful and we as white people need to learn why.
Maybe not all black people see a problem there, and the black woman working on the store could have explained why that is a problem, ideally, but i can imagine the words are sometimes not there yet to talk about it, and again it's not her responsibility to educate all the white people when there are enough sources, like books, on the topic.
I do agree, in the end we're all sisters, but us white sisters (and brothers) do need to educate ourselves in order not to unintentionally hurt our black sisters (and brothers).
