DJI Mini 2 vs Mavic Air 2 - Which One Should I Get?

Which one can hold more weight

I bought mini 2 but it's windy where I stay I need the air 2

Hi. I am a building inspector and need to read labels on equipment on thr top of buildings. I have the. Mini 2. And have money to move to thr Mavic air 2. Will the sensors on the mavic air 2 help me get closer and better photos with use of the extra sensors?. Thank you.

Here in Türkiye, Air 2 is more than two times of Mini 2 price. That is huge to prefer Air 2 if you don't gain money from this hobby. I have Mini 2 and videos or photos are more than enough for an amateur (And also for most of professionals). Also, over 500 grams here there are more risk to be catched by police or gendarma bcs of its voice and size. Mini 2 flies like a ghost and very easy while carrying to anywhere. Wind resistance is nearly same with Air 2 as well. Ocusynch 2.0 is already packaged with Mini 2 as Air 2 has and provides similar distances. Obstacle sensors in Air 2 are just useless when you are well experienced in this hobby already. For me Air 2 has little bit better camera not more.. At least doesnt deserve more than two times of Mini 2 price.

I got the Mini 2 specifically for traveling. I used to lug all my DSLR gear traveling. Then went mirrorless for lightness when traveling. Now I leave my camera gear at home and just bring the Mini 2 and with no registration required for it's size it's free roam in many countries. A couple Rocket and Circle Quick Shots and I'm on to the next attraction. Everyone takes the same photo of Notre-Dame de Paris from ground level but it's breath-taking taking aerial footage! A perspective many don't get to experience.

I only have a spark and it still is pretty darn nice in 2022. I just would like a bit longer of a battery time and slightly better video quality.

I have the Mini 2 and it's good for what I want to do it's smaller to carry the air 2 looks good but bigger

I was going to wait and buy the Mini 3 but since I thought I wanted to get serious anyway I picked up the Air 2 in the end, probably will going to pick up a smaller drone later down the road if I end up needing to travel to countries with stricter regulations

What do you prefer: Air 2 or Mini 3 Pro ?

So helpful, thanks! Going to Greece soon and decided on the Mavic Air 2. Had to register, take a test, and obtain an EU distant pilot license but it only took 3-4 hours to complete this process and 50 eur where I live in Germany. Excited to get out there and fly legally! Happy flying fellow droners!

The lack of obstacle avoidance on the Mini is the biggest issue for me.

If they would make the air 2 like the mini 2 without the lights and sensors u could probably get more flight. It doesn't pull much battery but it's alot of weight it doesn't need

I love my mini 2….I don’t see a reason to upgrade to air 2….my next drone will be the latest mavic pro, that’s a proper upgrade…air 2 doesn’t have that many camera differences with mini 2, while the pro range does.

I've had my original DJI mavic almost 5 years now. I remember those days worrying about the price and crashing. Only one time i sent it further than the batterys could bring it back.. headwind got me.. But i landed it in a hidden spot, and drone a mile to where i landed it. using the Find my drone GPS on the dji app. The obstacle avoidance does all the work.

I worry more about my mini,, since im flying it so far without line of site. That 250 gram limit really shrunk all drones. But the mavic air is the way to go. My brother has one.. I l.ove flying it..

For years I have been flying my Spark, and I was loving it. Sold it to get a Mini 1, BUT it didn't have the strength to fly like Spark on strong winds, and unfortunately flew away. Now, downgraded to Air1.

My question is - will I be able to fly the Mini 2 in strong winds better than the Mini 1? This year 2022, I am planning on getting a new drone without breaking my budget, Air 2 is quite expensive.

Im a casual flyer for years, but planning on doing professional shots this year and getting my license.

Being 249 grams is the main and perhaps only selling point of the Mavic Mini 2. I got it as a companion drone to my Mavic Air and the lack of obstacle avoidance and active track, as well as no fine control for video frame rate and quick shot speeds (it's only circle setting is a bit too fast for my liking) make it closer to a toy drone than something with actually potential.

Real bummer considering that all of these, aside from obstacle avoidance, could be implemented via software but DJI is clearly limiting the Mini 2's potential so as to not dig into Mavic sales...

I just bought my Mavic mini 2 yesterday. And it is very convenient compact drone. I was so amaze by its quality and its range. I also have Mavic 2 pro but every time im using it im always worried coz of its price if i crash. Haha. In my opinion if you're a vlogger and you want a small convenient but yet quality drone. Go for the mavic 2 mini.

I like dji mini 2 better cheaper and I just bought mini I don’t do anything special I just want record for fun don’t need over $800 drone

Sadly the Air 2 has terrible shaky footage in the wind compared to the Mini 2. I have the Air 2 and was disappointed when 15 mph winds caused my footage to bounce, especially since they say it's rated for 25mph winds. I saw a video comparison of them both in the wind and the Air 2 footage was super shaky.

Lot less hassle with mini 2 with new laws in UK, Air 2 banned from all parks, Mini 2 can fly in parks.

Hi Could you help. I Have a DJI Mavic Air 2. Don't fly regularly but just had a flight yesterday after 9 months just to get practiced again with the controls. Updated everything first. My query is around the direction of travel arrow. If you imaging the arrow head the point shows which way the drone is travelling. However, the drone effectively is going in the opposite direction to the point. Hope that makes sense.
Any clues please from An experienced flyer? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can't compare the mini 2 against the air 2. The air 2 leaves it behind by far. Its what you can afford end of the day...

My spark with a fresh battery flew for about 10 secs before saying low battery powering off and dropping out of the sky yesterday. It has a nice crack down the side now and will not pick up the battery. Hopefully I can get it to work again if not I’m gonna be getting one of these two
