The latency looks horrible. Even with good speeds it’s shit to play anything more than a platformer

Just mentioning that you still need the PS5 console, you need WiFi, you need your console to be on standby.

Wish they would team up with ayo neo or steam to make a psp version for cheaper..

$200 for: latency, visual artifacts, no bluetooth, can only stream your PS5, and having to have a PS5 for this device to even work in the first place.

Not direct connection to avoid lag when close the console, lag of 150ms, some small visible struggles on frames, and you're not being able to stream other content and even directly stream games from cloud, on your OWN PRODUCT, not an 3rd party player, but it is a playstation device, not BT and a poor battery, its a huge no, but a maybe the next version...

I was going to get this, but im extremely happy i shelled out (a lot) more money and got the Lenovo Legion Go... Ive been playing steam games, Microsoft game pass AND streaming ps5 games on a screen with higher resolution and higher hertz.

150 milliseconds delay is kinda a lot when on a monitor it’s almost unnoticeable

This would be perfect for me, I house sit for a living. My wifi is too shit in my apartment, I think, even if the place I am staying has excellent wifi. I really want it to work, the price doesn't bother me.

The ps portal is hands down the worst thing to come from Sony it pretty close to being as bad as the ps5

You can just a phone clip for your ps5 controller, it's cheaper than a backbone. Only downside is charging

Cool device but def going to go with an s24 ultra and Backbone. I do think Sony will eventually provide the ability to stream ps+ cloud games to the remote play device versus needing play remotely through your ps5. We'll just have to wait and see 😊

Idk I feel like with the progress we’ve made with APU’s over the past couple years, with being proven by the steam deck. They really could’ve made a killer portable system. That could maybe allow you to play ps5 games on the go natively. While allowing you to transfer your data using the ps cloud services between your console and the handheld, am I reaching or is that a possibility.

It’s hilarious to me that you advertise your $250 backpack for a $200 device. Shame.

Love how wifi 5 , battery life is the breakpoint for him but mine is the BS needing network 24/7 and ontop of that needing a PS5 to even use this.

Let’s be honest, the portal does nothing you couldn’t already do with the PlayStation app and an IPad,laptop,computer or phone and it’s over priced but Americans aren’t born with common sense anymore, so it’s sold out everywhere.

So whats the point of the playstation portable? to me its literally just a remote play device not even a console, your phone [Heck, even your PS4] can do PS5 remote play better, and to do remote play you NEED to be on the same network which is no good if your not at home

I don't think i would really want to get that when I got a backbone instead for my phone and I can just use remote play, I don't like that its only 4 hour battery life and no bluetooth support.

One terrible deal doesn't excuse other terrible deal. By supporting this product you are supporting Sony in their decision to artificially limitin what this device could do. Portal is not a competitor to other streaming devices, it is just a accestory for PS5 that is useless without it, and even by accestory standards it is bad because I can use Sony's gamepad on PC but this thing is 100% useless without PS5. Even with how limited it is, it can't relaiably do it's job because it's connection to PS5 depends on your wifi, if it worked like WIIU gamepad then it would be at least better at the only thing it can do than other options, but it isn't.

I really appreciate the thorough analysis. It seems like it will be a smart choice for me because I enjoy playing games while I'm half watching TV at the same time. It's a bummer that you can't stream games from anywhere you have a wifi connection... but it's unlikely I would take it with me outside the house anyway.

I think ppl would be happy paying a slight price bump for better battery and ps+ service compatibility. It's ridiculous that ps+ cloud play isn't possible lol I'm 100% sure Xbox wouldn't have fumbled like that despite fumbling everything else.
