Good evening, good video, please can you give us the parameters of the hidden menu of the FT-818 to compare with the menu of an FT-817, thanks HK3TKI
ОтветитьI don’t see you explaining anything that you did. What am I missing? 🧐
ОтветитьIt would have been nice if you hadn't turned the volume down while making the adjustments. It would have been more instructive to hear the transformation taking place. Also, the "Lock Key" does wonders. Most people underutilize the features on their radios.
ОтветитьThis definitely works many yaesu operators miss the ipo boat. Perhaps next time try engaging both IPO and ATT then turn volume up.... After this use the RF gain control as you would volume starting low. You'll find this often times provides most improved cleanup of incoming signals.
ОтветитьHow AGC is set during these adjuatments of RF?
ОтветитьHi. Where did you buy that bracket? Thanks.
ОтветитьI would also have used the IF shift which would have taken out the splatter from the adjacent station. I normally run my 817 with the IPO switched off (no preamp). I find it quite a good receiver when using the controls to their advantage.
ОтветитьA BHI dsp board in the 817 does wonders on the receive. Totally different machine after I had mine installed.
ОтветитьThanks for this! IPO makes a big difference. The FTDX3000 has it as well.
ОтветитьAnd if you add the BHI DSP filter and the mechanical Collins filter this radio bumps up at kx3 level
ОтветитьI don't do any 80 m (no antenna) keep the preamp off on 40 m mostly (poor antenna too).
I work CW 95% and turn AF gain full on and adjust the RF gain down as far as possible. When you get the RF gain set the CW signal just seems to pop up from the noise. Sometimes it is pretty touchy.
Nice guide - I'd recommend setting IPO = on (=preamp off) on any band longer than 20m..
