Why VShojo is Collapsing

Let's have a little discussion on this thread. Wanna know if you disagree, wanna add on some points, or if you agree at all. And please, lets try to be civil.

Everyone talks about how bad they are at business, but what about the talents themselves? Some of the talents used to be and probably still are kinda toxic, that's why I stray away from them now.

"Gura could not afford to buy her own ip" and you think that is a good thing? After all the money she made for hololive she could not even afford her own ip and you are glorifying that business model?


Do we really want vtubing to ba a second music industry where talents make millions for huge cooperations and get fucked in return?

Came to say, boy did this video age badly, but it more aged.... interestingly. Seems VShojo has kept pushing forward with what I call a Resurrection business model, pulling in even more former big talents, like with Nazuna and Kson. Now, with Henya, Kuro, and Matara. It's like you can predict the next VShojo member by just watching out for graduations from Niji or Hololive.

Losing Nyanners, Silver and Vei for Haruka, Henya, Geega, Mysta and Nina is a positive trade off imo.
Kicking Froot and Nazuna off would be an improvement too imo.
Vtubers I would like to join are Amatsuka Uto, Delutaya, Otogibara Era and Suzuhara Lulu.

Sounds like you're comparing apples & oranges here.... speaking from a business perspective, a talent "factory' is going to be a very different business model to a talent agency or collective.

From my limited knowledge, the large orgs that you're comparing VShojo with actually hire performers to fill Vtuber characters that the company itself creates & manages, like an actor on a TV show. And like TV, the performer doesn't own the rights to that character so they can't take it when they leave.

On the other hand, VShojo sounds like a talent agency... agencies partner with established talent to manage the business side of things on their behalf (like an actor's agent or gaming streamer org - they source sponsorship opportunities, negotiate with merch vendors, etc). But importantly, they have little to no say in the creative elements of the Vtuber's business... it's a business partnership rather than an employment relationship.

When you look at it in this context, the fact that some Vtubers didn't renew their contract with VShojo isn't alarming or indicative of the same issues as it might in other organisations. Formal business relationships end all the time... maybe the talent has outgrown VShojo's capacity to offer value, maybe expectations or targets weren't met, maybe they had a falling out. But I certainly wouldn't call unrenewed contracts a death knell for VShojo... it's a fundamentally different business.

Well, a few months later and i consider swapping out Vei and Silver for Henya and Geega to be a major trade-up. I've also noticed that since those old members left, the current ones have been meshing and collabing and getting along and feeling a lot more like a team than before

My question is does Nazuna and Henya keep their ip or do they have to buy it out from vshojo? Cause they are starting to implement some of holo and nijis business practices when they debut the two. But it comes back to them being heavy hitters already. I think vshojo needs the clout to keep them afloat and that's why they only hire big names cause that's the only way they get financial backing.

I’ve made this comparison before, but VShojo is like 90’s Image Comics. Both were founded by a group of talented individuals with a huge focus on creator freedom and 100% ownership of their characters. However, like we are seeing with VS, Image had internal disagreements which led to a lot of their creators to take their work and leave.

I definitely see Ironmouse leaving VShojo soon. She way Bigger than VShojo is and if she leaves than I definitely see her join Mythic and OTK.

The talents behind Kson, Nazuna, and more recently Henya, joining Vshojo only proves the point that they're elitist - they went for the powerhouses, regardless of the drama behind their previous incarnations.

Vshojo can be compared to NBA super teams created just to create a super team. Its a dead end approach, they got the biggest names to drum up hype and hopefully win a short term goal. Long term plan be damned, we need the money now now now now.

Using the NBA super team analogy; If they want to grow, they would need to tank and rebuild completely. They would need to distance themselves with their current roster and just build actual talents themselves. I personally feel that Mel, Mousey and Kson leaving them would be beneficial for them if they are to actually succeed as a brand because the brand right now don't mean anything with the big names overshadowing the brand itself

one thing I will say i noticed on the situation is that, all of the people who have left vshojo I'd consider to be high maintenance, silver(who is notorious for being very two faced offline) made it seem like when she left that mouse had ghosted her while still claiming to be friends, but when the the reality is during the time frame she specified mouse's illness had gotten worse, and she had been in the middle of moving into a new house with her family, Nyanners(anybody who's been on the internet for a very long time knows nyanners is very two faced as well) well I dont really want to spend 7 paragraphs explaining why nyanners is high maintenance. and lastly Veibae(I dont know much of her pre-vtuber activities but from what I heard she was also extremely two faced) from my understanding after getting with soda and seeing his success without being in a management agency planned to leave vshojo to try and pull the same success, but then after leaving her first stream being indie again, she came off acting like vshojo was controlling what she could say on stream, then proceeds to use slurs and acted like she was better than everyone(which in my perspective, just came off as really conceited) now what to all 3 of these former vshojo members have in common? 3 major things 1) a history of being two faced and deceitful 2) a history of large scale drama, and offensive behaviour 3) consistent active drama during their tenure as members of vshojo.

now if this doesn't convince you that these people were high maintenance, then I don't know what does. I'm inclined to believe that there is more going on behind the scenes to try and weed out these high maintenance members to try and clean up vshojo's image. yet this is just my own personal speculation on what may be happening behind the scenes on why these vtubers are leaving vshojo

I have so much to say about Vshojo that it's not even funny. So one thing to note is the when Vshojo was first announced it was literally built off of that indie Vtuber friend group. Ironmouse, Melody, Silvervale, vei, nyanners, and froot kind of appeared out of nowhere. They we're already rising Vtubers especially Melody, Mousey, and Nyanners. I think that the first big problem was that, these talents had big expectations for this and really talked it up. At the time I had the impression that since these talents are basically creating this, that they would be apart of management especially when it came to other waves of vtubers. But the only thing they planned for was talent freedom and access to different models. I've waited 3 years to see the kind of changes that would happen and the company has done jack shit. They tried doing auditions just for everyones information to get leaked and drama to start between the talents and Nux just because the fucking company has no communication with the fuck 8 talents that they have. The way that you describe their "agency" is perfect. It is just an org that has little benefit. I was hopeful in the beginning but I can see that there was honesty no change. These vtubers would have gotten popular (and were already popular) before vshojo.
Tldr: Vshojo fucking sucks as an agency and I knew it would since the beginning.

the only reason the girls who left actually left is because the company was demanding a bigger cut of their earnings. Some of the streamers decided to stay, some didn't. They just got Henya so I wouldn't say they are falling apart. They are going thru changes.
