Id argue jellyfish, snowballs and dreams blocks are all connected to something. Jellyfish are like carrying theo,but while carrying it you fave the low gravity from the summits vertical wind. Snowballs are like oshiro but without the warning before he attacks. And dream blocks are in the zipper-dash block-kevin-feather chain. You can control where you dash, but not for how long, unlike kevins.

I would rather say that the clouds are more related to moving blocks than to springs. For springs, you only need to walk over them without any timing required.
However, both the moving blocks and the cloud need timing. You learned when the best moment to jump is with blocks, and so now you're expected to transfer that knowledge onto the clouds.
Dimension was a great choice for the intro lol

Moving sludge also teaches you about fireballs in the core.

Crystal theo and jellyfish: Hold grab (Also some advadanced techniques like jellyvator works in both of them)
Deadly snowballs, mrs.oshiro and some baddeline attacks in ch 6: A missile appears where u were standing
You said that jellyfish are an example of something that doesn't fit into this progression, but they're pretty similar to the Theo crystal.

Creo - Dimension
Think about this, theo prepares you for the jelly. It teaches you how to throw it, that it can go through spinners (circle spikes) and other dangerous objects, and that it can activate touch and dash switches. The jelly expands upon that with adding gliding and gaining hight. And the gaining hight part is technically possible with theo, although less affective.

the entire game is a tutorial for real life when you actually have to climb a mountain.
