This is a tough review to write. This was my 3rd Sony TV, I had issues with the other 2, and Best Buy was great and replaced them. This one I received this in December, and it work fine until it started by itself disconnected from the WIFi then I had to reboot the TV, which sometimes did not help, if not remove my wifi account and then put it back in service and sign back into that and hope it worked. It did at times but I could live with it. Over the last month, the loss of wifi connection became a daily issue, I spoke with Best Buy and they said to talk with Sony, well I went through 4 reps, who had me to do this and that and even took over my TV, they did changes and while they were in my TV it lost its wifi connection.
I said this is what I go through daily. Long story short a rep called me back and said sorry TV is within specs, and talk over me for the whole call, what I said did no longer matter. She blamed Verizon FIOS for the issue, told me to lower the TV to the ground, spit my router, and have Verizon make changes to their system so the TV might work better, I kept telling her my Sony 1100ES Blu-ray player never has an issue, my other older Sony TV never had this issue, my LG C9 never had this issue and they are still being used, so when my TV would lose wifi connection I would try my other units and all worked fine.
So in the end she said this was their call and to them I have no issues with the TV. So I have a $2,000 TV that does not work and I have to live with it. So you buy a Sony you better hope you have no issues because if you do, it won't be their problem it will be yours, and they really don't care if you buy another Sony product. I hate to have to write this but I felt I had to do so to warn others of this issue and how Sony will deal with it. They will blame anyone but say yes, we have a problem with this unit.
I am so disappointed, even with their own reps facing the issues while trying to assist me. This is not the Sony from the past where their claim to fame was quality and customer care. When the TV works it is very enjoyable with a nice picture but it ends there after purchase don't matter.

Great Review! I was wondering if I can use my backlight remote from my A80J with the A80K since they’ve changed the remote for this model. Hopefully I can because I realize need the backlit remote for my night viewing. Can anyone answer.

The thicker the oled the better.
I do not want a tv that looks fragile.
It is the picture and the built quality that is important.
Finally this guy seems to be criticising the Sony rather than review it.
How independent are these people?
He seems not credible.😢

it has an amazin picture quality 9.5/10 after you calibrate it. the brightness is actually more than enough for many users. And the best part is the sound. 1080p blu-ray rips look amazin even with the compression.

Just bought this TV and the biggest disappointment was no screen protector to peel off. I was leaving that for my girlfriend...I read online a few folks almost wrecked their screens looking for the edge of plastic to start peeling. Maybe Sony should state clearly that there isn't one, lol.

I’m coming from a 2018 TCL 55in 6 series it just started to die on me Christmas Day lol so when I went to Bestbuy for the X90k but when I turned around I say this Tv and the picture just grabbed me so I went with it. Mostly when I do is casually game and what I read as far for PS5 it look pretty good for it, but yeah from 2018 day 1 TCL 6 series to starting to die the screen started to have horizontal lines started coming down the screen flickering out the blue.

The GOT and SM images show no detail in darker portions of the image. Just a face or lights against a solid black background. Despite numerous adjustments I either get adequate dark detail with washed out brighter scenes or jet back in the dark areas especially in dark scenes. Watching Lack Ryan season 3, every scene has vastly different coloration and contrast. If there is detail in the night opening scene in Russia then any daylight scenes are overall too dark. Watching The Chosen, beards are either totally black with very dark faces or, bringing out expected detail causes daylight scenes to be washed out and dark.

You're way off base about losing a 120Hz HDMI port(eARC/HDMI 3) if you're using an AVR, because you'd be plugging in your HDMI devices to your AVR...just about anyone running this TV will be running an AVR that can handle 120Hz...

I love that Sony is stuck in 2020 so much with no 4 HDMI 2.1 that you made the mistake of saying "here we are in 2020" as well lol, good review not a lot out there on the A80K so it was good to see your input.

I've been looking at getting a new TV so I'm shopping around. Right now I have the 75" Z9F in my Living Room and love it, does have some blooming, but the clarity/detail/crispness of the picture makes up for it. If I got one in my LR I'd probably go 85", maybe the QN90A or B, but Sony just seems to me more crisp/detailed in it's PQ. If I got an OLED, which I don't have, I'd probably go 77" because of my $3k budget. My only worry about an OLED is the brightness. I tried the 65" C1 a couple years ago and it was just too dim for me, especially in a daytime/bright scene. Dark scenes look great! The PQ was just too dim for me so not sure how the A80K would work for me compared to the C1 and other OLED's and if they are that much more bright. I love the OLED's clarity and great PQ, it's just the brightness that worries me. The 65" A95K looks great, hard to justify paying $2,999 for a 65" though when I can get a 77" OLED or 85" LCD with other models. LG G2 looks good as well in 77". There is also the 75" Z9J, but I already have a 75" in the LR so I doubt it would be much of an upgrade unless it's just eye popping since I have no way of seeing it locally. A lot to choose from so what would you recommend for watching movies/tv shows in 4K and/or HDR?
