James E28 story hit so hard, I have an E90 328xi and one night I had to rush myself to the hospital because I was having heart attack symptoms, the ER doctor said if I had got there even 10 minutes later I could’ve died. Yes I know I shouldn’t have driven myself, but I will always love my car for saving my life.

The answer is simple, and I think you missed it. But I'm not going at you for it, as there are a ton of great cars in BMW's history, and it's easy to get caught up in all of them. I've owned six different Bimmers, and years ago I would have thought it was the E46, because of how monumentally flexible it was in doing everything you could EVER want a car to be able to do. And I seriously thought I loved mine to the point of being fanatical about it. HOWEVER, it turns out I just didn't even understand the concept of fanatical or love until I finally got my E92 335i and continued building it to 740whp, while continually upgrading and improving the interior as well. So from all the different bimmers I've ridden in and drove from our BMW CCA ( Car Clubs of America), NOTHING has impressed me or put a smile on my face more than my own E92 335i. Best and most versatile model ever made hands down. It's the funnest car I've ever driven, and I've owned three Porsches.

Fun fact: Elvis put an american V8 in his 507, not so long ago that exact car was found in very poor "barnfind" condition, hopefully got restored and got its original engine back

No torque converter in the DSG either, it’s like a two manual gearboxes merged together, one for odd gears and one for even. If it rolls in neutral or not - depends on software, DSG disengages the clutches in eco mode, so you can keep rollin-rolling-rollin
