What putting grip style do you use?
ОтветитьI’ve been using “the prayer” without even realizing it was a thing. I was just trying to keep shoulders level and every-time I putt I prayer … please go in 😂
ОтветитьWhere can I purchase a 56-degree Dune wedge, thanks, Walt?
Ответитьi use the claw grip ,after watching you ,so true about lacks power on longer putts ,great on the shorter putts,
ОтветитьLet me know if im wrong. but did you use the claw grip in the Good Good Major UK vid? Is that what you are using still
ОтветитьYu connais le grip japonais
ОтветитьI think my grip is a mix of the standard grip and the prayer grip
ОтветитьWouldnt take any advice from this guy. His putting is morbidly horrible
ОтветитьAll about the options, well done.
ОтветитьHi Rick, I used Fleetwood Style for few years now, yes less power on the longer putt, but like claw grip shorter putt is deadly.
ОтветитьThank you Rick! Never seen a video go through so many different types of putting grips all in one video. I could try all of them one after the other. I'm with you, the prayer grip feel week in the hands but i can feel nothing working independently. The two versions of the claw were great as well. I was doing one wrong until I watched your video. Much better now. Cheers
ОтветитьI’m a complete novice, practicing at home before I let myself loose on the greens and fairways. I’ve the standard, claw and reverse claw good for me.
ОтветитьI use the reverse claw
ОтветитьI’m gonna try the pinch method
ОтветитьI use a hockey style grip. Left hand is in the middle of the grip and right point finger is tucked under the end of the grip on the shaft end of the grip. It’s very odd, but helps me with speed. Disadvantage is accuracy
ОтветитьI tried reversing my grip... it was like someone else was putting.
ОтветитьRick, great video. I plan to try one of the variations you show tomorrow. For years I have been plagued by pulling my putts left. Any suggestions on what causes that?
ОтветитьI shoot right and think I putt left 😔
ОтветитьGonna try the prayer grip. Seems like the most intuitive/less offensive opinion from the standard.
Ответитьoutside 3' - standard grip
1'-3' - claw grip
inside 1' - reverse claw grip
Just pick one and stick to it. Ez
ОтветитьI use the Colin Morikawa "saw grip" which he learned from Mark O'Meara the week before he won the US Open with it. I have been using it for two years and it really keeps my putter head from "floating" on the takeaway.
ОтветитьIt's crazy, I have watched several of your videos and each one has really helped me. Been playing for 3 years now and tried Reverse Standard Grip and it feels so natural! Thank you!
ОтветитьThe one that works for you
ОтветитьI use the standard but I am thinking about trying the reverse grip
ОтветитьThe last picture on the far right. Having two hands side by side keeps the angle of the shoulders neutral.😸
Ответитьhe forgot full-finger and Vardon 🤔
ОтветитьYou left out the Interlocking grip used by Rickie Follwer. You interlock the first gets and point your thumbs straight down.
ОтветитьRick Shiels giving putting advice.
ОтветитьI use three grips because of the power needed to deliver the length of the putt versus the accuracy needed. Putts over 60 feet - standard grip (right hand low). Putts between 15-60 feet - left hand low. Finally, putts of 15 feet or less - opposing hands. The more power needed results in less accuracy, the less needed results in more accuracy. Works for me. I use a face balanced/center shafted mallet putter with a straight through swing.
ОтветитьMy problem is my right hand flicks. I am using the claw grip. Not sure if my shoulders are square
ОтветитьI experimented with the reverse grip which initially I liked but over time I realised my putting scores were getting worse and worse. Bought a chipper which I love, and was using standard grip with that. Now I've switched back to standard grip for my putter as well and my putting scores have got much better. Will stick with standard for now - oh, and with my index finger on my RH down the side for a little more stability.
ОтветитьI have two versions of my own you should try.
The standard grip but Left index held by right pinky and ring finger
And secondly the prayer grip but lace/lock your fingers together. It feels super weird but accurate. Let me know how you like them!
I m new to the game and I spend most my time fatting the irons and slicing me woods. But I do seem to be but more natural with putting I seem to read the greens quite well. But tbh I have no.idea how to hold the putter so this video is so useful for me . Cheers Rick
ОтветитьBeen using the reverse grip for about 5 years. As Rick says it does feel different when you start using it, but I would recommend it if you’re struggling.
ОтветитьMy putting is awful hope this helps
ОтветитьBeen golfing just this year. Did the prayer grip because I saw the thumbnail. Sunk a 40 foot putt today. No joke. Great Video
ОтветитьI came here after watching Rick play Tommy Fleetwood and noticing Tommy putting style
ОтветитьClaw grip all day
ОтветитьThe reverse claw grip can also be called pencil grip since it feels like you’re holding a pencil.
ОтветитьI have a fairly long 36" putter, it's a Wilson with the stock grip (kind of a fat cone with a flat front) and it's perfect for me. I choke down to the bottom of the grip with my left hand and position the rest of the grip against my left forearm. Right hand goes below left, actually on the metal shaft, but it's only there to guide my shoulders and chest. All the aiming and stability is in the left hand and arm. Changed my game big time
ОтветитьI learned I'm better putting with a left handed putter, when I found one in my dads shed. I'm right handed. 🤣
ОтветитьI started using the reverse grip and my distance control is a ton better
ОтветитьInterestingly, I use claw because It helps keep my wrists straight
ОтветитьWhat about the Gilmore grip?
ОтветитьHas anyone tried a grip where the palms face away from your body? You need a thicker grip, but it does reduce some wrist motion because they are locked in place.
ОтветитьReally helpful, thanks for the upload👍
ОтветитьWhen you just realize how many things you have to improve in your game this comes out 🤣
