Thanks for sharing this video...I always admired the MaxiCom but after this video I had decided to bet on Xtool D7.

The Xtool series has a terrible live data playback function: I have a problem with my BMW suddenly bucking at speed and stalling at Idle. It happens infrequently. Probably every 1 to 2 hours of driving. No codes are thrown. Live data is what I need so I bought this scan tool. I bought the D8 model. I finally have the bucking event recorded after about 45 minutes of recording. I stop the car and save the data for review. I start the playback thinking I can go to the end and see the parameters, but you can’t scroll or go fast forward. You have to sit and wait until the end. This is crazy stupid if you just recorded almost an hour of data to catch an event that you waited for. The cds (recording) file is proprietary when I try and open it to view, its encoded. You can do the export data and the data will be saved as text file (CSV) that can be opened it Excel, but when you stop recording after about 30 minutes of collection. It may not be able to write it to the internal storage because of its size. I sit and wait a minute or two for it to respond. It has no progress meter. I suspected my fuel pump is the issue. I recorded the fuel pump parameters, but I can’t add any engine data parameters like engine speed and peddle position in with the fuel pump because they are in a different live data category: engine vs fuel delivery. This is just plain crazy. All parameters should be able to be chosen from all groups for the maximum of 8 that can be displayed/saved. These are major problems with the live playback and could be solved easily in an update to the software but who knows when that will happen.

Isn't Custoemr Support part of a good scan tool? I hope you don't need their custoemr support, it is the worst customer service EVER. Have you tried contacting their ONE MAN Customer Support SHOW in the US? He lables his emails "Mr. Barnett", he respnds once and then stops, does not read the emails but spits out one email with general instructions. The SD Card on my Icarsoft MBII was corrupted, I spent a week sending emails to this Barnett character and no help whatsoever. I am throwing this piece of junk and getting something more reliable. Bad mistake buying this product.

X-Tools has had D9 for over a year. No one seems to mention anything other than D7.

Just bought an xtool ip819. In case your wondering because I can't find any info on specifics for supported vehicles on any scan tool. The xtool I bought does not talk to drb 3. So any dodge between 98-07... I've tried it on two different 05 dodges. Same story on both. One is a ram 3500 the other a neon. Support told me If I want to use it on diesel vehicles to buy a diesel scan tool. (The 819 being marketed with 31 special functions and one of which being dpf systems. Which if you don't know is diesel particulate filter.) So I was more than a little pissed to hear this. Figured they mistook what I was saying as me working on a semi I tried to clarify that, then I was met with a reply that indicated the email I was responding to was a general support ticket generator. I sent everything explaining my concerns and the questions I was needing answers to only to not get a response. I'll be returning it and not buying another xtool. Really wanted to like this scanner.

We have several a few different brands of vehicles in our family I have an innova reader but I’m looking for a reader that will do everything and also to have another reader.
I do not want a Autel because they charge for updates….

I purchased a autel 906bt I used it about 4 times in one year now the updates have run out the tool does not work anymore it won't read vins or scan the vehicle I will never buy from autel. Again and the update prices are ridiculous

I am currently working on figuring out an EVAP leak somewhere and just purchased a new EVAP Smoke machine from Autoline Pro called the Ventus. But I have watched other videos that mention that you need to close the vent valve before testing. So not sure if finding a ScanTool that can control the vent valve to open or close it is considered a "Special Feature/Function/Option" or if the ability to do that is a standard option found in anything of these tools? Thank you again

iCarsoft is not fantastic. Since it does not automatically create a log file and you have to set item by item to a log file, that's pretty annoying. Moreover, logs can be read only in Windows, which is in today's world obsolete.

Why no mention of Launch? I use it and find it way better than my Autel 908pro. It does bidirectional and actuatiobs and coding and I only pay £100 a year for updates through a non franchised dealer.

This doesn't add up. The icarsoft pro that you indicate is not what the link shows. Here you are showing a touch screen but the linked device is not a touch screen.
