Tile vs. AirTag in 2023

The comments were more helpful than the video. Tile does suck. I thought they worked like the Samsung air tag and the apple tag.

You missed THE BEST Tile feature, I can press the tile and find my iphone! Airtags don't do that!

More importantly, what phones will each tracker ping off of when it is out of range of your phone? I've heard that Tiles only ping (or report their location) to phones with the Tile app installed, whereas AirTags will ping off any Apple device, which I think it's safe to say there are far more of than Tile app users

I got a free tile when I subscribe to life 360 gold or something for a month so only paid a £10 not bad and it works pretty well. Tho after watching other videos it seems that samsung tags are better than both and considering I have a Samsung phone that is where I'll be purchasing in the future

You didn’t mention airtags force you to turn on apples 2fa which is poorly designed and can never be turned off.

Super helpful thanks! Only thing I would have added as a major benefit of Tile over AirTags is that they have Tile stickers as well (which I didn’t know)! In okras I misunderstood, being able to just stick on a tile tracking sticker to a devise seems like a major vote for Android tile!! That and the significant differences in tracking by distance.

I’ve always and forever been an Apple user but there’s a lot Apple is doing wrong and I’m seriously considering of giving up my Apple addiction and giving android a whirl.

Does the Airtag constantly drain the battery when not in use though?

so, i dont understand. Airtags, Range 9meters, but you can track the luggage on the airplane? Here is my situation. I left my wallet on the car roof. drove off. slipped somewhere in the 25km trip somewhere on the road. + if someone finds and takes it. can i find the location where its been brought to?

Without the accuracy of the direction, the extra range is stupid. I bought a 4 pack of tiles, now they can be tracked to the nearest landfill. Disappointed android would fail so bad.

air tag will not find your phone with a click, tile is a double click (which is stupid because it often goes off in your pocket, should be 3-4 clicks).

Have been using Tile for years but am about to give up on them due to their app consistently failing to communicate with my devices. Uninstalling, logging out and in etc works initially but then, without notice, they’re not talking to each other. This makes the Tile useless when you’re trying to find your phone (the main feature Tile has over the AirTag is ‘find phone’ but when it just stops working, it’s useless)

This is dumb. Your list of air tags 'advantages' is just a compare and contrast, but not really a judgement of what is better. They make different sounds, Tile has a few different possible sounds, and..... What?

I’ve owned multiple Tile tracker’s. Bought them before switching to iPhone. My two biggest complaints. Sometimes their little alarms don’t work. Two have this issue. The second is when they’re in your pocket. Turn the wrong way. Try to pull your keys out of your pocket. The tile gets squeezed and you activate the tile it self. Which is annoying as hell.

Edit: My recent issue with Tile is customer support. I have a Tile that the alarm doesn’t work well on. You can barely hear the tone. Emailed them and it seems as the email goes to multiple people. Every response was to or from a different person.
My other issue is the batteries. The app use to set off an alert when the battery was in need of replacing. I have a couple go dead with no warning. Guess I need to to check them once and awhile.

The # 1 advantage you fail to mention is Anit-Thef Mode. It makes the tracker undetectable by theft. A Airtag will play a sound and notify the theft that its being tracked. So if you looking at theft prevention Tile is the way to go.

Are these capable of tracking your car if stolen?

I have both phones and i honestly think i need to get both. Expensive? Yes, but tile can alert me from further and then apple can give me precision in a loud place.

THIS SUBSCRIBER DIDNT ADD THAT YOU CAN DOUBLE TAP THE TILE BUTTON ON THE TILE AND IT WILL FIND YOUR PHONE AND MAKE IT RING EVEN IF YOUR RINGER IS OFF! IT DOES CONNECT WITH ALL OF YOUR STUFF. I use tile to find my wallet my keys, my phone, my car, and my children! Apple air tags are terrible! And you actually have to purchase a case for it.. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 they had to figure out a way not to be greedy so they had to closely match tile but they are apple so they had time figure out a way to get your money.

He literally just told you guys what to buy. Lol. Obviously tile is the clear choice winner. Tile is compatible with other devices, you can use it to find just about anything. Apple is to into figuring out a way they can sell you something with the most accessories needed. So Apple is I’ll make you think you’re saving money on that air tag but really you’re spending so much more. I paid 12.99 for my tile mate. One thing it didn’t say on here is that tile mate can find your phone as well. All you have to do is double click the tile mate and it will automatically find your phone! So when you talk about what device is better. Obv tile is the better option.

What about the reverse button press you can have you phone which rings ?

If you have an iphone, get Air Tags.
If you have a Samsung, get Smart Tags.
If you have anything else, get Tile.

The best feature of the tile is being able to use the tile to ring your phone and find your phone quickly.
(Although don't do it by accident in the middle of the company meeting, it bypasses silent mode so I found out) the pro tiles are less easy to set off by mistake.

If you have an iPhone, AirTags are a no-brainer. There's simply more iPhones out there making the mesh network than iPhone/androids other users running tile's software.

Also a plus fore tile: Data does not go to big tech and you can register with an alias.

I never got anywhere close to tiles advertised range. In practice, I’ve found that Apple actually gets better range.

I would argue that the main problem of Tile is that it requires the app installed and "Allow all the time" location permission to work properly. On iPhone, even when I allow access to the location at any time, the IOS changes it back to "when the app is in use". It causes me problems because the OS disables the ability to track my stuff. I don't have that problem with my Pixel (Android), but still, most of the people in the US (including its territories) are iPhone users.

Samsung SmartTags also have precision finding, using AR.

Could you also compare Galaxy Tags & Chipolo trackers?

You missed the most important one. If you want a tracker, you're better off getting AirTags and buying even a cheap iPhone to use together with your Android phone. Why? - Because any person with an Apple device, be it an ipad, iphone, macbook etc act as a beacon. So even if someone with an iPhone walks past your item, you will be notified that the item is found with a location - unlike Tile that needs the app to be installed and running.

The user base is so huge that you are way more likely to find your item than with tile, which has a tiny user base by comparison.

I may have missed it in the video, but I have heard that tile only tracks if other people have the tile app and the setting enabled near them. Which is why I have been super hesitant to get them or recommend them to friends.
