ОтветитьThe background music for quite some time at the start sounds so much like DAS BOOT.

ОтветитьYeah this is some super awesome footage throughout battles I've never seen. Very cool
ОтветитьThey would go from sitting around playing cards to shear terror of Kamakaze attacks, submarine attacks etc.
ОтветитьGood video!
ОтветитьPro tip/ pretty sure that the nuclear powered USS Enterprise was not around in the 1940s
ОтветитьThe Japanese Navy was among the great pioneers in aircraft carrier technology, this seems to be lacking in their viewpoint.
ОтветитьI spent 30 years on US Navy ships from 1961 to 1992. Your narrative suggests that the US Navy spent decades doggedly advancing their advance of the art of air combat at sea. I'm not going to throw numbers at that but the view from the gun deck was soul destroying boredom for weeks or months on end followed by moments of intense combat. There is no useful way to explain it; you had to be there.
ОтветитьSome of the best World War II combat footage I have ever seen!
ОтветитьVeteran of USS Midway, USS Constellation, and the "Big E" .. I can honestly say I was rarely bored.
( refueling at Sea was not eliminated for the Enterprise. Still had a lot airplanes to fuel )
Fair documentary not too bad a lot of mistakes. But not bad ones. You can tell the narrator is a land lubber
Hey, Brainiac: The aircraft carrier in your banner thumbnail image wasn't launched until two decades AFTER World War II. Kind of important for a historical documentary to get its main subject right, morons.
ОтветитьA documentary on WW II carriers but uses a non-WW II carrier as the thumbnail.
ОтветитьWhy such a long intro tho?
ОтветитьThe one pilot unbuckles his safety belts like NOTHING HAPPENED, after his crashed plane split in half.😆
ОтветитьAt the close the narrator says the role of the carrier will depend on what role the US seeks to play. With or without carriers the US has destroyed Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, and is currently working on Iran, It's expensive but at least its brutal. That's our role.
