just to add one more thing, i heard this from my granny, during the time of partition, that time internet and wide spread of news was not available so many people in sindh dont know partition is going to happen. so they were told that you have to leave sindh for a week or two bcz hindu muslim riots are going on so you may be killed in that so leave this area for two weeks and then you can come back and they were also told not to carry any jwellery money etc with you, others who are involved in fights may loot you. so this way many of sindhis didnt carry any jwellery money anything with them and when they came to india, boom its a surprise.. you cannot go back start everything with zero. you cant imagine what property and worth they left in pakistan which was later occupied by muslims, so logically when muslims left their places in india should be allotted to sindhis, but your so called leader "MAHATMA GANDU" alloted that land to muslim board and what govt provide us in India is not even close to the worth we left in sindh(nd most of us didnt even got shelter). So always feel proud to be sindhi that we never beg never involved in fights always ready to adjust and live peacefully with everyone and also self made without much needed resouces.

सिंधु नदी थी नहीं, सिंधु नदी अभी भी है, वेदों की रचना सिंधु नदी के किनारे ही की गई थी, कहते हैं जब आर्य यहाँ आए तो उन्होंने दरिया-ए- सिंध (सिंधु नदी) को समुद्र समझ लिया क्यों कि यह बहुत बड़ी नदी है और संस्कृत में सिंधु मतलब समुद्र होता है जैसे कि दयासिंधु मतलब दया के सागर, और दरिया-ए-सिंधु के कारण ही इन्हें दरियापंथी भी कहा जाता है, अरोर एक क्षेत्र था सिंध प्रदेश में आज के जो भी अरोड़ा हैं चाहे वो सिंधी हो यां पंजाबी सबका ओरिजिन वही क्षेत्र है पहले सिंधु नदी अरोर के पास से बहती थी बाद में सिंधु नदी ने अपनी धारा बदल ली और अरोर से बहने लगी इसलिए जो वहाँ से माइग्रेट हुए वो अरोरा कहलाए जो बाद में खालसा पंथ आने के बाद पंजाबी अरोड़ा हो गए, प्राचीन सिंधु प्रदेश बहुत बड़ा था जिसे सप्त सैंधव / सप्तसिन्धु कहा जाता था जिसमें पंजाब और बलूचिस्तान भी शामिल था आज सैंधव नमक/सेंधा नमक भले ही पाकिस्तानी पंजाब से निकलता हो लेकिन कभी वो भी सिंध का ही हिस्सा था जिसके कारण उस नमक का नाम भी सैंधव नमक पड़ा, और पहली पातशाही श्री गुरु नानक देव जी का जन्म एक सिंधी दम्पति के यहाँ ही हुआ था जिसके कारण सिंधियों के ऊपर उनका बहुत प्रभाव है वर्तमान सिंधु प्रदेश से सटे हुए सिंध प्रदेश में ज्यादातर गुरु नानक जी को ही मानते थे उनके सरनेम भी आपको आहूजा, वसूजा, जुनेजा, हिंदुजा मिलेंगे जो कि आपको पंजाबियों में भी मिलेंगे, सिंधु में आपने "मुहन जो दड़ो" के बारे में तो सुना ही होगा, मुहन मतलब मरे हुए, जो मतलब का, दड़ो मतलब टीला, मरे हुए लोगों का टीला , दड़ो का ही बिगडा़ हुआ स्वरूप है थड़ा , जिस पर दिल्ली के गुरूद्वारा बंगला साहेब में श्री गुरु ग्रंथ साहिब को विराजमान किया जाता है, सिंधी साहित्य भी बहुत समृद्ध रहा है, अब्दुल शाह लतीफ़ भिटाई की सात सूरमियां मशहूर है, सिंधी में नायिका को भी सूरमा के समानांतर ही सूरमी का दर्जा दिया है लतीफ़ साहब ने, मूमल(मूमल राणों/मूमल महेंद्र), सुहिणीं (सुहिणीं मैंहहार /सोहनी महिवाल), सस्सी(सस्सी पुन्हू) मारूई(उमर मारूई) , नूरी (नूरी जा्म तमाची) लीला (लीला चनेसर) ये सब सिंधी लवस्टोरीज हैं, सिंधी में सुहिणीं मतलब जैसे गाँव में लड़कियों का नाम होता है जैसे गौरी, मूमल राणों का राजस्थानी वर्जन आपको मूमल महेंद्र के नाम से मिल जाएगा, आबिदा परवीन को तो आप भूल ही गये, सास बहू और फ्लेमिंगो में इन्ही की नज्म है "अल्लाह साईं" राजा चचु को भी भूल गए जिनके नाम पर चचनामा है जिसमें पूरे सिंध का इतिहास है

Thank u for this detailed info. I am a born Sindhi, my family migrated during Partition, and i know how much pain they went thru. Most Sindhis thought that things will settle down and they wud go back. But that never happened, and nany Sindhis, like my mother died, pining away for Sindh.
She used to say 'asanjo vatan rehji vyo' meaning we have lost our motherland . . . One more thing, the 'ani' part in Sindhi names means 'ansh' in Sankrit. Our surname is usually a grandfather or ancestors name followed by ani, to show our descent.
