That song was lame in many ways, but Cyndi blu it up and made it sound cool.

By far the most tragic part of the song imo. I feel like all the artist that did the first part of the song and Michael was all they needed. Until Stevie stepped back in , it was all downhill 🤷🏽‍♀️

It took her awhile to get her part right. In an "elite" group, they were used to artists who sing the part twice and it is a wrap. So the artists who couldn't do it or who was off key were aggravating to those who could(expected everybody to do so). Everybody is not from motown. It is what it is

I saw a footage, when she did "wa wa wa....." MJ looked at her furiously as she ruined his song.

Unfortunately Cyndi Lauper's part was amongst the worst part and she is a greater singer but not a soul singer.
Prince declined to be a part of this creation and he was quoted as saying; "It sounds awful" and it was awful.

"We are the world was nauseatingly pretentious crap . didn't matter how many high profile artists were present , it's just sucked .
aside from that Lauper created IMO one of the top ten best pop albums of all time .

Michael Jackson (being the perfectionist he was) must have been such a pain in the a$$, so the fact Cyndi & Karnes blew a different pitch and imperfectly so, made the song in my humble opinion!!
