I remember watching this decades ago thinking it was a simple family drama. Its all about family, all right... but dang... I love it. I keep coming to clips like this.

Much is rightfully made of Pacino's performance here and throughout the saga, but John Cazale absolutely killed it as the weak and hapless Fredo. And for that matter, few actors have had such illustrious but sadly short careers. All 5 films he acted in were nominated for best picture, and 3 of them won.

Michael really re-invented himself. He went from the quiet kid to a real leader. His only mistake is that perhaps he was too forward unlike his father. His father would have tried to be friends with Moe instead.

Little that we knew, Fredo inevitably sealed his fate.

I have more respect for Fredo after knowing that was banging cocktail waitresses two at a time.
