Hengam Island

On April 14, 2019, and on the last day of Persian #Nowruz holidays, I packed up in half an hour and took a trip to another amazing island located in #PersianGulf . #HengamIsland is so near to #Qeshm Island that you can barely call them separate. It's the land of indigenous people and like #HormuzIsland they recently have begun to draw tourists' attention to their rich heritage. They offer their warmest hospitality to outsiders despite of all their limitations and lack of support from government resources. We were strangers, outsiders but quite exhilarated by being away from our cities, watching school of fishes with vibrant colors in crystal clear water. We jumped off a huge cliff leaving our anxieties behind, taking injuries, but laughing.
We met a couple of young outsiders like ourselves coming from different cities of Iran, building their own temporary sustainable place, making handmade bracelets and necklaces with tiny pearls and stones found. Small feast for feeling the freedom.

The most horrible and embarrassing scene? Piles of plastics and trash scattered throughout this beauty. Locals and temporary settlers clean them from time to time but is it too hard to imagine how disrespectful it is to come and exploit and then leave?
